Nintendo Acquires Monolith Software

by Rainier on April 27, 2007 @ 3:10 a.m. PDT

Nintendo has acquired 80% of the shares in development studio Monolith, previously owned by Namco Bandai, which still retains a 16% stake. Currently employing 110 people, Monolith was founded in 1999 and is best known for Baten Kaitos and Xenosaga franchises, not to be confused with F.E.A.R / Condemned's Monolith Productions. With this acquisition Nintendo secures exclusivity on its upcoming Wii title, Disaster: Day of Crisis.
