Electronic Arts' first Wii trivia game Smarty Pants will combine age-targeted trivia with action-based gestures, making it a truly trans-generational game for the Wii.

How smart are you? Do you know more than your Grandma about world history? Does your little sister know more than your Dad about sports?

"Our Wii family trivia game is a perfect addition to EA's recently formed Casual Games label," said Kathy Vrabeck, President, EA Casual Entertainment. "Part of our charter is to offer entertaining and stimulating games for the whole family. The prospect of kids being able to play with friends and parents on a level playing field is exciting."

"The gesture-based answer methods are a perfect match for the Wii," said Daniel Hagerty, Producer at EALA. "The experience isn't just about who can press a button the fastest, it's about getting the whole family up off the couch to get their minds and their bodies engaged."

The EA Casual trivia game for the Wii tailors questions to the contestant's age, allowing friends and family members ages eight to eighty to play simultaneously. The game tracks every player's answers, and adjusts the difficulty level to provide continuous stimulation and challenge.

Exciting Wii gestures make everything a game, from spinning the category wheel and tug-of-wars over correct answers, to "dance-offs" for additional points. The game also features a family mode, where everyone tries to beat the clock and a rapid-fire competitive mode for groups of friends. With both competitive and collaborative game modes and 20,000 questions in multiple categories, the replay-ability and fun will be virtually endless.

The game is being produced at EA Los Angeles and developed in conjunction with Planet Moon Studios and will be available this holiday for the Wii. The game has not yet been rated by the ESRB and PEGI. More detailed information and the final name announcement will be forthcoming.
