by Rainier on March 4, 2008 @ 2:52 p.m. PST

Many people in the gaming community may not know Gary Gygax, who was best known for creating Dungeons & Dragons/Advanced D&D, and as a pioneer of tabletop RPGs. Back in 1974, Gygax and Don Kaye created TSR and released the first D&D rulebooks. There have been numerous revisions and updates since, with the fourth installment due for release later this summer. Gary Gygax's work inspired many RPG video games such as Bioware's Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls series and more. Suffering from health problems, Gary Gygax passed away at the age of 69.
