Emergent Game Technologies announced that NCsoft, known for MMOs such as Lineage, Guild Wars and City of Heroes, has signed a licensing agreement for the Gamebryo video game development platform with the company’s North American business unit.

“Gamebryo offers a comprehensive development framework with the right balance of flexibility to integrate with our proprietary tools and existing projects,” said Chris Mayer, VP of product development for NCsoft North America. “It allows us to very quickly take projects from concept to prototype on a variety of platforms which is a tremendous advantage from a creative execution standpoint. Having our creative teams worrying less about fighting with technical challenges and focused more on making sure the product is fun is the right strategy for developing our games.”

“Gamebryo was engineered as a flexible and modular platform supporting multiple genres of games,” said Geoffrey Selzer, CEO of Emergent. “Our cross-platform technology gives NCsoft unlimited options for extending its current products and creating new content for the global gaming audience.”
