'Requiem: Bloodymare' Kruxenas Race - Details & Screens

by Rainier on June 16, 2008 @ 12:03 p.m. PDT

Gravity Interactive, known for Ragnarok Online, is kicking it up a notch in the new year and announced it is bringing Requiem: Bloodymare to North America. This new MMO, designed for a mature audience, melds elements of horror, fantasy and sci-fi and introduces a world where the misuse of science and magic has warped the natural world into a twisted vision of death.

Requiem: Bloodymare's brand of horror is changing the face of massively multiplayer online games. With innovative ragdoll physics, buckets of blood and the unique Nightmare, DNA and Beast Possession systems, Requiem offers players gameplay they will not find anywhere else.

Race: KRUXENA

Strength: Physical and Spiritual Superiority

Weakness: Won't cooperate with other races. Lack compassion and are inhumane.

Characteristics: Kruxenas are endowed with both strong strength and spirit: they can use short and long range weapons, and can become skilled in magic. They are brutal and cold hearted since they were created to destroy, They will even sacrifice their companions to accomplish their ends. Kruxenas have no qualms over mutilating their enemies and tend to be antisocial.

Combat Style: Warrior classes use light, short range weapons to perform quick strikes, supplemented by DOT attacks. They can also use long range weapons in pre-emptive attacks. Magician classes use DOT magic to curse and poison enemies, but they are more vulnerable than the warrior classes.

Relationship with Other Race: Kruxenas were created by the ancient Natsu race to be humanoid weapons. They are unfriendly to all other races, except for Batuks since they share some of the same genes. Their wickedness and contempt starkly contrast with the more compassionate Turans.

Set in the frozen tundras of Crescent, the streets of Parness and many other mysterious locales, Requiem: Bloodymare plunges players in a world where technology has gone berserk and blood-thirsty creatures lurk around every corner, allowing for a unique horror MMO experience.

The DNA system allows players to customize their characters to their heart's content by combining new pieces of DNA. There are five slots available but certain combinations can have special results and unlock a sixth slot.

The Beast Possession system allows players to transform their characters into menacing Beasts in order to slay even the fiercest of monsters. Beasts can be acquired starting on level 25 and gain experience with the user's main character. Up to three beasts can be equipped allowing players to select between warrior and magic user beasts to balance their play style.

The Nightmare system is one of Requiem's main differentiators. Requiem has day and night cycles; a full day takes two hours in-game. Every night, from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., the world goes dark and much more powerful monsters come to life. Players are able to collect better loot from Nightmare monsters; however they?ll need backup in order to avoid repeated, painful deaths.

The game will be free-to-play with two levels of subscriptions. Players who purchase a Basic or Premium package for Requiem: Bloodymare will receive an exclusive 3-day early access pass into the game (June 16), three days before its public launch, and a special experience bonus for the early period. Players must purchase the monthly package from June 5 to June 12 to be eligible.

The basic and premium packages cost $7.99/month and $14.99/month, respectively. The packages also include faster character development, increased item drops, bonus points from Item Mall purchases as well as enhanced chat functionality.
