by Rainier on Sept. 8, 2008 @ 4:34 a.m. PDT

Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir (NDS)

Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir begins with instant intrigue: Eccentric millionaire Phil T. Rich has disappeared and only you – the Master Detective – can find him. Players progress through an interactive detective story, visiting more than 30 richly illustrated environments to find more than 1,000 cleverly hidden objects in an effort to find the rightful heir to Phil T. Rich’s fortune.

“Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir is an interactive seek-and-solve scavenger hunt that everyone can enjoy,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The compelling story paired with the enchanting graphics and unique seek-and-solve style of game play will appeal to hard-core gamers, casual gamers and franchise fans alike.”

“Our partnership with Nintendo is very exciting. The game play in Mystery Case Files is perfectly suited for the touch screen,” said Patrick Wylie, Big Fish Games’ vice president of Studios. “Just tap it with the stylus to find objects, rub it to brush dust off of evidence or use the microphone to clear cobwebs.”

Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir is a fun addition to family game night. Using multiplayer modes, players can challenge up to three Nintendo DS owners to see who can find the most objects or work cooperatively to solve a puzzle.

To top off a “MillionHeir” look, players may want to pick up the newly released Metallic Silver-colored Nintendo DS.

Nintendo has even more good news for fans of puzzles, games and mysteries. Today Nintendo will re-release both Clubhouse Games™ and Hotel Dusk: Room 215™ for Nintendo DS. Clubhouse Games is a collection of more than 20 classics, like chess, poker and darts. Up to eight players can join in on the action. For some grittier action, check into Hotel Dusk: Room 215, a film noir-type detective story that puts players in the middle of the novel. Players even hold their Nintendo DS systems sideways like a book. Engage in conversations and unravel the clues until you figure out what really happened in Room 215.

Lock's Quest (NDS)

From the creators of Drawn to Life, Lock’s Quest utilizes the Nintendo DS stylus to deliver a unique gaming experience that blends action, adventure, strategy and building simulation with a fun and memorable storyline.

Lock’s Quest combines the frantic pace of an action/adventure game with the depth and replayability of a strategy title, allowing players to assume the role of young hero Lock as he defends his homeland from the imminent attack of robotic invaders. As an Archineer—part architect, part engineer—Lock uses his skills to construct defenses to protect the energy-providing Source Artifacts from the invading forces. Offering two fast-paced modes of play, Lock’s Quest allows players to build and battle in order to defend their virtual homeland. Players must use different strategies to build structures inside the village and construct necessary defensive items, including walls, weapons and traps to prepare for upcoming invasions. Once the attack begins, players will be able to choose between one-on-one combat or launch special attacks to quickly defeat the invaders. After each successful battle, players will reap the rewards of victory by using salvaged scraps to unlock new weapons and begin rebuilding defenses for the next invasion. Players will have the opportunity to strategize and build while fighting 100 battles across 18 huge, unique environments. Intense versus battles can also be fought via multi-card play.

Lock’s Quest, developed by 5TH Cell, is now available for a suggested retail price of $29.99.

Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise (NDS)

Based on the original Viva Piñata game from Microsoft Game Studios for Xbox 360, the game will allow players to utilize their creativity to develop the ultimate piñata paradise with the swipe of a stylus.

“With the continually growing market share of the Nintendo DS, THQ is pleased to bring the cherished Viva Piñata series to the system for the first time,” said Terri Schiek, vice president, North American sales and distribution, THQ. “The intuitive interface of the Nintendo DS is perfectly suited for the open-ended and customizable gameplay in Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise. We expect the title to be a great addition to the handheld market as we head into the holiday season.”

Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise will allow players to inherit a neglected garden on Piñata Island and turn it into paradise through a number of activities including garden cleaning and decorating, vegetation growth and management, as well as piñata caretaking. As players watch their gardens grow, they will attract new piñatas, including seven brand new piñata species. A new Playground Mode will allow players to quickly create a fertile garden full of exciting and exotic piñatas, while numerous items may be shared among friends using the Nintendo DS local wireless connection. Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise will also include 12 playable levels based on actual episodes from the hit TV show. These garden scene environments are played through with guidance from some of the popular TV series characters such as Hudson Horstachio™, Fergy Fudgehog™ and Paulie Pretztail.

Developed by Rare Ltd., Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise, rated “E” for Everyone, is now available for the suggested retail price of $29.99.
