'The Lord of the Rings' License Reverted Back to Warner Brothers

by Rainier on March 15, 2009 @ 12:45 a.m. PDT

Back in 2001 EA signed the right to make games based on The Lord of the Rings movies, which was initially set to expire in 2007, but extended an extra year to give Pandemic enough time to finish their LotR: Conquests title. With no intentions to renew the contract, the licensing expired rights have reverted back to Warner Brothers according to Variety, speculating that it will handle development of future titles on its own.
