'Dead Space' (ALL) Sequel to Have Multiplayer?

by Rainier on April 25, 2009 @ 3:25 a.m. PDT

Set in the cold blackness of deep space, the atmosphere is soaked with a feeling of tension, dread and sheer terror. In Dead Space, players step into the role of engineer Isaac Clarke -- an ordinary man on a seemingly routine mission to fix the communications systems aboard a deep space mining ship. It is not long before Isaac awakes to a living nightmare when he learns that the ship's crew has been ravaged by a vicious alien infestation. He must fight through the dead silence and darkness of deep space to stay alive.

A new EA survey is asking fans whether they would be interested in co-op and Zero-G deathmatch, possibly hinting at multiplayer inclusion for the sequel.

Set in the far future, Earth’s appetite for natural resources has become a major motivator for deep space exploration. Immense, privately-owned and operated mining ships called “planetcrackers” orbit planets and use sophisticated equipment to carve out entire city-sized chunks of rock, reducing them to component elements and raw ore.

When communications go dead onboard the USG Ishimura, a famous planetcracker, systems engineer Isaac Clarke is sent in to fix the problem. Once onboard the vessel, Isaac discovers that the crew has unearthed an ancient and malevolent alien presence far beneath the planet’s surface, brought it onboard, and thave been ravaged by a vicious alien infestation. Weaponless, alone and terrified, this lone engineer is burdened with much more than simple survival – he must seal the alien horror back into the dark rock.

You must fight through the dead silence and darkness of deep space to stay alive.

Key Features:

  • Strategic dismemberment—Shear off limbs with powerful weapons as you carve a bloody path through the alien hordes. • Terror in the far reaches of space—A blood-curdling interactive horror experience features state-of-the art graphics and effects, a panic-inducing audio system, and a truly frightening atmosphere of death and despair.
  • Real Zero G—Battle relentless enemies and crack challenging puzzles in unprecedented zero-gravity environments that reinvent survival horror.
