Tuesday, April 7, 2009 Shipping Announcements

by Rainier on April 7, 2009 @ 4:00 a.m. PDT

Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

The Godfather II (PS3/X360/PC)

"The Godfather II offers players the ultimate fantasy of being a Don - of finally being the guy who calls all the shots for the family," says Executive Producer Hunter Smith. "By combining the strategic gameplay of thinking like a Don through the 'Don's View', with our intense, visceral 'Blackhand' combat, we are focusing on the game at the root of the Godfather franchise, the game of organized crime. In essence, we're creating a new niche in the open-world genre and are really excited to see how players will build their families and customize their own experience in both the single player campaign and multiplayer battles."

The Godfather II takes all of the drama, action and family values from the classic Godfather films and brings them into an interactive experience. This means that players have to build and invest in their family, manage their rackets, takeover crime rings and even reach out to corrupt officials - all through the revolutionary Don's View. The Don's View is a 3D display of the player's criminal empire and family tree, offering a birds-eye view of all three cities to better coordinate their take-down strategies, plan hits on rival made men, attack enemy compounds, and much more. As a Don in the Corleone family, The Godfather II puts the control in the players' hands and allows them to live in the Godfather universe while creating their own story of deception, betrayal, and conquest in a 1960's organized crime world.

Developed at the EA Redwood Stores studio, The Godfather II, rated M for Mature, will be available on the Xbox 360 and PS3 ($59.99) and PC ($49.99). Tthe game will be available on April 10th in Europe.

Flock! (PS3/X360/PC)

In Flock! players take control of an alien UFO that’s been given the challenging task of herding animals to its mothership through a variety of interactive levels.

Players will have to overcome the different behaviors of the animals to herd them successfully. This will require the use of quirky humor-filled strategies, as well as completing a series of physics-based puzzles. By finding or creating a passable route, players can herd the animals safely toward the ship. Solving the puzzles within the suggested time limit yields exciting rewards but players can also take their time to find more hidden bonuses for extended gameplay. With a unique theme, clever humor and easy pick-up-and-play controls, Flock! promises to be an instant hit with gamers of all ages!

The game is played from a third-person, top-down perspective, where users take control and pilot the UFO around a series of small “plushie” islands surrounded by water. The animals that populate these islands – sheep, chickens, pigs, cows and more – respond to the UFO in all kinds of interesting ways based on their nature. The challenge is to take advantage of these behaviors in order to help guide them to the mothership and rack-up points

Flock! uses a sophisticated physics engine to drive the challenging puzzle elements of the game. Whether it’s using the tractor beam to move obstacles out of the way or the depressor beam to stamp out crop circles to guide your herds, being an extraterrestrial has never been this fun! Friends can also join in through co-op play and when all the levels have been completed, users will be able to make their own plush and puzzle-filled levels using the level editor that comes with the game. Flock comes packed with so much content, the potential fun is out of this world!

Rated E for Everyone, Flock! is now available to download for Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360, PlayStation Network and PC.

X³: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions (PC)

X³: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions features a host of new missions, new ships and much more – and is also available on Steam, a leading platform for the delivery and management of PC games and digital content with over 15 million accounts around the world. This updated version of X³: Terran Conflict is being published by IGS Interactive Inc.

“It’s been a long road, but it feels great to finally give US gamers a chance to go and purchase this fantastic final installment in the X series,” said Bernd Lehahn, managing director of EGOSOFT. “The critical response to X³: Terran Conflict has been nothing short of phenomenal, and we’re confident that X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions will only build on that success.”

As with the previous titles in the X series, X³: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions is a single-player space simulation featuring fast-paced first-person space combat, free-form open exploration of a huge dynamic universe, and large-scale management of the player’s own intergalactic corporation.

In X³: Terran Conflict (the predecessor to 2.0), the long-lost Terran colony of Aldrin was rediscovered. Now, after numerous years of isolation, the Terrans are keen to bring the Aldrans back into the fold as part of their massive effort to colonize areas of space thought lost or inaccessible. No colonization is easy, however, and you will be asked to not only help in the shaping of the new frontier, but will also be called upon to provide protection for the colonization effort against forces determined to oppose the Aldrin Expansion. New Terran stations and complexes, a new Terran ship and a host of other new features are introduced as you play a decisive role in the shaping of this new Terran frontier.

“As with X³: Terran Conflict, IGS Interactive is extremely proud to be publishing X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions,” said Paul Lombardi, CEO of IGS Interactive Inc. “This is an absolutely stellar title for both fans of the X franchise and newcomers alike. OMG! High School Triple Play Pack (PC)

OMG! High School Triple Play Pack is a trio of games for the PC, based on the classic Paramount Pictures’ films Pretty in Pink, Clueless and Mean Girls. Pretty in Pink.

Based on the classic hit movie, the Pretty in Pink video game takes players on a nostalgic trip back to the 1980s. Andie, Duckie, Blane and all the unforgettable characters from the “wrong side of the tracks” and the “richie” kids return in the game. Players might experience a twist from the original movie ending because this time, Andie’s fate is in the players’ hands. Through hidden object, logic, and puzzle games the player recreates the classic romantic triangle between Andie, Duckie and Blane to relive the memorable story that defined a generation.

In addition to the main gameplay, the player will collect extra hidden items that will ultimately affect who Andie goes to the dance with. Will the rich and popular Blane capture the heart of poor but, fashion-conscious Andie, will she end up with her long-time friend and geeky new-waver, Duckie or a possible third ending that is anyone’s guess? In Pretty in Pink players also collect “prom items,” pieces of clothing that Andie can use to make her prom dress at the end of the game. The more prom items that have been discovered, the more options the player will have to build her dress.

Pretty in Pink includes five hours of gameplay with 49 levels to play through 10 memorable locations from the movie like Trax Records, Cat’s Nightclub, Iona’s apartment, the School Library and Prom. The game also features six mini games with memory, logic, jigsaw puzzles and other challenges that will test players’ skills and wit.

Clueless welcomes the player to Beverly Hills where nothing is better than wearing a great outfit on a perfect date with your dream guy. Players take on the role of fashion-maven Cher, whose life is not always as easy as it looks since her friends and family are continuously misunderstanding her very honorable intentions for them. It is up to the player to help Cher and her friends through the ups and downs of finding true love and, of course, looking good.

The game features over 500 fashionable options of tops, dresses, pants, shoes and accessories that players choose from to assemble stylish outfits over the course of 80 different levels. There are sixteen clothing styles, ranging from contemporary to vintage, so players can mix and match hip trends from the past and present to create the highest scoring outfits in a race against the clock. Cher will then let the player know if she makes the grade. Even the player’s boyfriend will compliment her fashion savvy—and if she is lucky enough to have styled an outfit that matches his taste, extra bonus points will be awarded.

There are also cool mini games like the Fashion Memory Mode where players match styles of hot outfits from memory and then position their model in the same stylish pose before time runs out. In the Concave Pavilion photo shoot, players dress their model, choose her position and location, and then can export the image to share with friends.

Clueless also includes the films’ original opening soundtrack and music, in addition to the incredibly cool outfits that were created under the direction of students from the Fashion Institute of Design in Los Angeles.

Mean Girls is the ultimate High School Showdown. In the game, the player is the new girl at North Shore High and it is up to them to decide how they will try to unite or control the school. The power is in their hands as they create and customize their unique character and choose to play naughty or nice with the other students. The ultimate goal is to achieve perfect social harmony or complete domination of the school in this highly addictive puzzle/role-playing game.

Mean Girls merges strategy and role-playing elements that coincide in the match-three puzzle game board and are played out via head-to-head, turn-based game play that pushes players to plan, think, and strategize against opponents. With an upbeat alternative rock soundtrack composed by renowned artists, the game includes 25 battles with over 40 characters in 12 locations within the High School. As players win showdowns and gain experience, a wide variety of skills become unlocked that players can use to customize their battle strategy. Attribute points are used to fine-tune their character’s charisma, intelligence, endurance, luck and strength to further modify their battle style.

The game also includes a number of random encounters with students who will want to battle against you, and side quests where your job is to round up slackers and take them back to class. Success at these activities will gain your character extra bonus points and experience, which are used to obtain new skills for showdowns.

The OMG! High School Triple Play Pack has an MSRP of $19.95 and can be purchased at retailers nationwide or from www.legacygames.com.
