Tuesday, May 12, 2009 Shipping Announcements

by Rainier on May 12, 2009 @ 5:21 a.m. PDT

Another day, another batch of games shipped to stores. Instead of giving them all their own posts, we grouped them, and so far there are announcements for:

Battlestations: Pacific (X360)

Battlestations: Pacific offers players the chance to relive or rewrite history with two action-packed naval campaigns to challenge every armchair admiral. The U.S. campaign picks up where its predecessor left off and takes players through the key stages of the war by authentically recreating some of the grandest naval battles of recent history. The Japanese campaign offers players a unique "what if" scenario and the chance to change the course of history, starting from the attack on the U.S. Fleet at Pearl Harbor and on through Asia, Australia and beyond, expanding its empire throughout the Pacific Rim.

Battlestations: Pacific offers one of the most authentic gameplay experiences with over 100 air, sea and undersea units to master: fighters, bombers, kamikaze planes and subs, aircraft carriers, destroyers, submarines, battleships and more. Each unit is recreated with incredible visual detail and comes complete with a full damage model that brings the battle to life. AA fire can rip planes to pieces, with wings and tails sheering off while carefully placed bombs or shell fire can pierce the hulls of even the largest ships, causing engines to stall, fuel stores to catch fire, magazines to explode and ultimately ships to break apart.

Battlestations: Pacific also offers players the chance to take the conflict online, with five massive multiplayer modes for up to eight players, each offering a unique take on naval warfare with both team-based and one-for-all modes. A new feature, Skirmish Mode, allows players to experience the multiplayer melee offline, playing each of the maps and modes against AI-controlled opponents.

Battlestations: Pacific, rated T for Teen, launches today in North America and on May 15 in Europe.

Fable II: See the Future DLC (X360)

Fable II offers even more choices and building on the core gameplay theme of Fable, where players' every decision continually defines whom they become. Fable II is an action role-playing game that truly allows players to live the life they choose in the newly expanded open world of Albion.

Set 500 years after the original, Fable II will provide gamers with an epic story and innovative real-time gameplay, including a massive amount of freedom and choice to explore a vast collection of dungeons, catacombs and taverns in the world of Albion.

"See the Future" returns to the beloved world of Albion, where a set of cursed items from Murgo the Trader unleashes new challenges for players to overcome, including encounters with kooky ghost hobbes, bloodcurdling necromancers, a cursed knight and the Coliseum, where only the greatest heroes will emerge victorious to claim the ultimate prize. Of course, what would travel be without a trusty companion? The "Fable II" dog returns with three alter egos to guide players on their quests to see the future, in the form of a Dalmatian, Bloodhound or Husky.

In addition to fantastical new quests, creatures, characters, events and legendary artifacts, "See the Future" also offers free unique items to all, including a unique soldier helmet, braided ponytail hairstyle, psycho Jester make-up, a new hero expression, the back flip trick for canine companions, and a collectible Murgo the Trader gold statue.

The Fable II Game Add-on, "See the Future," is now available for download on Xbox Live Marketplace for 560 MS Points for the premium content package.

Sid Meier's Civilization IV: The Complete Edition (PC)

As one of the most respected franchises in the gaming industry, Civilization has sold more than 9 million units worldwide. Developed by 2K's Firaxis Games, Civilization IV: The Complete Edition combines the award-winning classic Civilization IV experience with three expansions: Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Warlords, Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword, and Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization. This value-enriched package keeps players immersed in the "just one more turn" gameplay that has been synonymous with the Civilization series for decades:

  • Sid Meier's Civilization IV
    • Winner of multiple 2005 Game of the Year awards, Civilization IV comes to life in a beautifully detailed 3D world that heightens the gameplay experience. This latest iteration of the strategy classic takes the franchise to new heights with the addition of new ways to play and win; new tools to manage and grow your civilization; all-new, easy-to-use mod capabilities; and various multiplayer modes and options.
  • Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Warlords
    • Warlords adds new twists and challenges to some of the most creative scenarios in the series. In the Omens scenario, Great Britain and France race to settle North America at any cost, while the Barbarians scenario allows players to take control of ruthless hordes of warriors. With these brutal Barbarians under the player's control, their goal is to conquer all other civilizations on the map by decimating opposing armies, looting the cities and burning them to the ground.
  • Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword
    • Beyond the Sword was released in 2007 and proved to be the biggest single Civilization expansion pack to date. This expansion focuses on the late-game time periods after the invention of gunpowder and delivers 11 challenging and decidedly different scenarios created by the development team at Firaxis Games, as well as members of the Civilization Fan Community. Beyond the Sword also includes ten new civilizations, 16 new leaders, five new wonders, and a variety of new units that will offer even more fun and exciting ways for players to expand their civilization's power as they strive for world domination.
  • Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Colonization
    • Colonization is a standalone game experience that adds an entirely new scenario to the ever-evolving world of Civilization.
