'Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10' (ALL) Launches Upper Deck Challenge

by Rainier on June 17, 2009 @ 11:27 a.m. PDT

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 takes golf fans inside-the-ropes to experience the drama and emotion of tournament golf. In addition, the U.S. Open, a USGA championship, and the USGA’s Rules of Golf will be available in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 for the first time in franchise history.

As you hear the roar of the crowd from the next hole over, can you handle the mounting pressure while you stand over your tournament-winning putt? Expanded crowds surround every hole; adding to the tension and excitement of each shot. A first for the franchise, real-time weather will be reflected on every course, ensuring the in-game experience matches that of the current weather conditions. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 will also feature a television broadcast style presentation, which include instantaneous updates and a new announcer team of ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt and the Golf Channel’s Kelly Tilghman.

Thanks to the new relationship with the United States Golf Association, during the week of the U.S. Open (June 18-21) golf fans can jump online and participate in the inaugural Upper Deck Challenge, featuring the 2009 U.S. Open, via the EA SPORTS Live Tournaments mode.  So fire up your Xbox 360 or PLAYSTATION 3 console and tee it up to experience the all-new EA SPORTS Live Tournaments mode, which has been an overwhelming hit with longtime fans and newcomers to the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR franchise alike.  You may just take home some authentic Tiger Woods memorabilia in the process.

The Upper Deck Challenge featuring the 2009 U.S. Open will include two levels to choose from – Amateur and Tour Pro, so there’s something for everyone!  The Amateur division is for less experienced players who are looking to get a feel for the U.S. Open and the famous Bethpage Black course.  For those looking for a real test of major-like conditions, they can select the Tour Pro division where you can win authentic Tiger Woods memorabilia provided by Upper Deck Authenticated.  Visit the Upper Deck Store website for a full assortment of authentic Tiger Woods autographed memorabilia.

But if you want to compete with the real-world pro golfers, select Play the Pros mode and see if you can win bragging rights for beating Tiger’s score.

The Upper Deck Challenge featuring the 2009 U.S. Open will be playable on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii versions of the game.  Moreover, if you are looking to heighten the U.S. Open experience, don’t forget to check out the U.S. Open-themed GamerNet challenges.

EA Sports Live Tournaments consists of three categories: daily, weekly and Play the Pros tournaments. Gamers can jump into a new tournament each day, play 18 holes and see if their round stays atop of the leaderboard, or play in a weekly tournament and post scores from four rounds that span over an entire week of play. Play the Pros is an extension of the daily and weekly tournament systems, but instead of a gamer-submitted leaderboard, players will be posting their scores against the real life scores of PGA Tour golfers during an actual professional event. EA Sports Live Tournaments is available on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii versions of the game.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 on the Nintendo Wii will support the all-new Wii MotionPlus accessory, which brings an authentic sports motion to your golf swing; including the ability to draw and fade. Whether it’s opening up your clubface to take on that dogleg or tap in that five-foot putt – Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 with the Wii MotionPlus is like bringing a golf simulator to your living room.

This year’s 2009 U.S. Open course, Bethpage State Park (Black Course), will be available on the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP and Wii versions of the game. The USGA’s U.S. Open courses are known for being the toughest test in all of golf, and in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 golf fans can expect the same major championship conditions as found in the real world.

Developed in Orlando, Fla., by EA Tiburon, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 will be available for the Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, and Wii on June 16, 2009.
