Blue Fang Studio Laying Off Employees

by Rainier on Aug. 5, 2009 @ 5:44 a.m. PDT

Blue Fang, known for its Zoo Tycoon series and currently working on World of Zoo, announced that it was forced to lay off 15 members (25%) of its development team.

Today Blue Fang took the difficult but necessary action of reducing the size of our development team by 15 individuals. While we are saddened beyond words that we cannot continue to employ these talented individuals, we are also confident and excited about our studio’s future.

First and foremost, we are very proud of the work the entire team has done for the upcoming “World of Zoo” game and we are excited for players around the world to share in the experience we have created. “World of Zoo” represents a tremendous milestone for Blue Fang as we expand to new development platforms and new forms of game play.

Blue Fang has also been successful in developing proprietary tools and technology that allow us to build future multi-platform products in less time and with significantly fewer resources. While this provides a tremendous benefit to our overall business, it unavoidably means we needed to adjust both the size and mix of our development team going forward. With today’s staff reductions we have made these necessary team adjustments.

We wish all of the folks who are leaving us every future success.
