Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Arcade Attack (NDS) Announced - Fact, Features & Screens

by Rainier on Sept. 3, 2009 @ 9:29 a.m. PDT

TMNT: Arcade Attack is a side-scrolling beat-em-up game, a tribute to the coin-op classics that made the Turtles legends. Clean up the crime-riddled streets of NYC as Shredder stands poised to take over the city—and only you can rally the might of the ninja brothers to put a stop to the threat in the present and the future.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Arcade Attack, developed exclusively for NDS, has an original storyline and is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up game. It is a tribute to the original coin-op classics that made the Turtles into video game legends. The game pits the four Ninja Turtle brothers against their old nemesis, Shredder, and his many villainous henchmen.

"The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 25th anniversary 'shell-ebration' is quickly turning into a Turtle fan's dream, especially if they love video games,” said Gary Richardson, CEO of Mirage Studios. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Arcade Attack will absolutely thrill the old school Turtle fan, especially the ones that recall putting in countless hours at the arcade, as well as the newer fan who loves ninja action.”

"Gamers all over the world recall the countless hours of fun these types of arcade games provided,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Arcade Attack plans to recapture that nostalgia and add an entirely new level of sophistication. Given the success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled, as well as the excitement for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up, we believe that Arcade Attack truly completes the TMNT experience.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Arcade Attack will feature an all-new combination system, enabling players to string together uppercuts and roundhouse kicks to unlock a series of moves powerful enough to take out even the strongest enemy. In addition, the game will include a cooperative mode, allowing for arcade action with either a friend via local wireless, or a system-controlled Turtle brother.

Key Features

  • BEAT-EM-UP, NINJA STYLE: Relive classic Turtles fights in the streets, sewers and rooftops of New York City. Take on everyone from petty thugs to great masterminds like Dr. Baxter Stockman. Stop the enemy with your ninja weapons, kicks and throws.  Evil never tires but neither do the Turtles!
  • COOPERATIVE ACTION: Never be alone, you will always have a Turtle brother fighting alongside. Each Turtle brother has different strengths and weaknesses, so choose your tag team wisely. Play with a friend via Wi-Fi or play solo with a computer-powered Turtle brother.  Strategically combine your ninja moves for special attacks to inflict serious damage.
  • ORIGINAL STORY: Prepare to journey into an all-new original story of the Turtles told through amazing animated comic book art and epic battles.  Chase the Turtle nemesis, Shredder, beyond New York City through cyberspace and time to uncover evil plots with villains old and new.
