'Shattered Horizon' Rolls Out Moonrise Content Pack, Gets Free Steam Weekend

Shattered Horizon is a new multiplayer FPS game where teams of players experience realistic zero gravity combat and fight to survive in the aftermath of a catastrophic Moon mining accident which throws billions of tons of rocky debris into near-Earth space.

In this multiplayer first-person shooter for the PC, teams of players experience realistic zero gravity combat surrounded by the broken remains of orbital infrastructure and the millions of asteroids now encircling the Earth. With simple and intuitive controls, players have complete freedom of movement making full use of the distinctive environment to control the battle. Shattered Horizon rewards players with gameplay and tactics impossible in games constrained by gravity.

In Shattered Horizon, a catastrophic explosion on the Moon has filled near-Earth space with billions of tons of rocky debris. Teams of players fight in zero gravity to control the limited supplies that mean the difference between survival and death in the cold of space.

The four Moonrise levels are set around the shattered Moon, taking the fight deeper into space and showing a new side to the conflict. The screenshots released today show hints of exotic new locations: an MMC cargo ship lured into a trap by the ISA, a huge mass driver installation, the broken remains of a luxury lunar hotel and fragments of what was a massive communications dish on the Moon.

Shattered Horizon will be free to play and 50% off to buy on Steam this weekend. Shattered Horizon's innovative zero gravity gameplay has recently been enhanced by the Moonrise content pack which added four new levels and a major update which included many features requested by players.

"This weekend PC gamers everywhere can play Shattered Horizon for free," said Jaakko Haapasalo, producer at Futuremark Games Studio. "And for the duration of the weekend, even though we recently doubled the size of the game by adding new levels, we are offering it to players for half the price, just $9.95 / €9.95."

Moonrise Free Weekend on Steam: Starts 00:01 GMT Friday 19 February (19:01 EST Thursday 18 February) Ends 21:00 GMT Sunday 21 February (16:00 EST Sunday 21 February) Players can start pre-loading Shattered Horizon from Steam late Wednesday evening onwards.
