'Runes of Magic' Celebrates Spring With Masked Ball Event - Screens

by Rainier on Feb. 25, 2010 @ 7:34 a.m. PST

With an extensive range of features Runes of Magic prepares to redefine the standard of free-to-play MMO games. Even at the beginning Runes of Magic conveys its absorbing story in over 5,000 quests embedded in an atmospheric world.

Runes of Magic features a unique dual class system enabling players to combine one of eight primary classes with a secondary class. The result is a deep player experience that expands upon the game’s deep customization offering. There are two different playable races, Elves and Humans, from which players can choose. Each dual class combination produces its own powerful elite skills. Another popular feature is the opportunity to furnish your own completely individual virtual home, and guilds can construct guild castles, which can be expanded with additional buildings. Thanks to comprehensive crafting and reputation systems, gripping PvP features, deep customization and demanding dungeons, Runes of Magic has something for everyone.

In Runes of Magic, winter is slowly coming to an end. The residents of the massive online world are looking forward to the start of spring. Citizens of Taborea will now be able to celebrate the changing of the seasons with the ‘Masked Ball’ fancy dress party.

Ancient legend tells us that the Barbarians of Candara survived cruel winters in Taborea and worked hard to survive the harsh realities of the cold. When the weather finally changed, they would celebrate the prospect of a rich harvest for the year. The ‘Masked Ball’ will continue this age old tradition as barbarians will dress up to welcome in the spring in full party mode.

Frogster is going to invite the player community of Runes of Magic to take part in these celebrations. Daily quests and a game world decorated for spring awaits adventurers of all levels. Rewards include ornamental masks, transformation potions and all sorts of goodies including cakes and fruits that will restore life. The ‘Masked Ball’ will launch with the next update patch which will be deployed across the servers in March.

Adventurers will be able to take their first steps into a kingdom full of intrigue and uprisings when they enter the Thunderhoof Hills, the first territory in the The Elder Kingdoms. A new zone concept has also been created for the new chapter of Runes of Magic. The new continent has moved away from closed territories and has evolved into versatile and varied landscapes. When gamers journey to the Thunderhoof Hills they will first enter the forest, pass by waterfalls and then enter one of the three new cities to trade and meet other players, or explore a mystery shrouded graveyard of long dead kings while staying within the same zone. One of the new instances, the Dungeon of Dalanis, leads adventurers into the world of shadows beneath the Thunderhoof Hills. Here dreadful terrors lurk that can only be overcome by mobilizing everyone in your group..

The history of the old kingdoms of Runes of Magic will be told in Chapter III through many new quests. Level 55 and above adventurers will become familiar with a new skill system where they can select from a pool of special abilities which will be available to them in combat. There will also be plenty of opportunities to try out these new abilities in the new chapter, including in conflicts with other guilds. The Elder Kingdoms also expands on the existing opportunities which guilds have to equip their castles with new buildings. Rival guilds will also be able to lay their hands on siege weapons. Quests for whole player communities, Player vs. Player rankings and reward systems, as well as a new battlefield – the Tyrefen Mountains – bring additional depth to the PvP game. Three additional mini-games have also been built into the game.
