'Arc Rise Fantasia' (Wii) Reveals Story Details - New Screens

by Rainier on March 30, 2010 @ 5:20 a.m. PDT

Arc Rise Fantasia is a new turn-based RPG with a beautiful, anime-inspired Japanese art style. Players will jump into the shoes of L’Arc, a calm and composed mercenary, who sets out to defend the Meridian Empire from an impending invasion of ferocious creatures.

The world of Fulheim is sustained and has prospered through its use of a luminescent technology known as “leys,” the source of all magical energies. However, the world totters on the brink of collapse as creatures from outside wreck havoc and inner turmoil threatens order and peace.

Amidst ever more frequently occurring riots, creatures called “Contaminant Dragons” pose the gravest of threats to the empire of Meridian. As the creatures increase their numbers the environment quivers with a strange phenomenon known as “crystallization.” Reports from across the world credit the mysterious pollution to these monsters, yet killing them would only unleash another series of disasters, as their very bodies poison the air upon death.

Players will jump into the shoes of L’Arc, a calm and composed mercenary, who sets out to defend the Meridian Empire from an impending invasion of ferocious creatures. After assembling a party of friends, each with a unique set of abilities, players will embark on a perilous journey across an overworld filled with deadly enemies and treacherous dungeons. While strategically queuing up attacks, players can summon mystical creatures and work with their party members to execute massive attacks.

A critical element of any JRPG is story.  As one plays the game, one gradually gets to know the heroes of Arc Rise Fantasia and how their lives are shaped by each other and the challenges they face. As the mercenary L’Arc, players embark on a journey to defend the Meridian Empire from invasion.  Apprehensive towards his chosen path, L’Arc faces a life altering decision.  As the plot thickens, relationships become complex -- hinting at unforeseen consequences with unlikely friends and treacherous foes.

Arc Rise Fantasia reveals the unique pasts of these anime-inspired archetypes as players battle through a world of exploding monsters, magic orbs and bittersweet romance.  A thrilling narrative rises as alliances form and parties assemble.  Told within gorgeously animated cut scenes, as well as manga-inspired 2D dialogue sequences, the story deepens and unfolds in unexpected ways.  This is the classic, sweeping storyline that JRPG fans have been craving.

Rise Fantasia is a product of old and new, combining gorgeous graphics with modern gameplay while bringing classic Japanese high fantasy role-playing action involving airships and dragons.
