'Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse Ep. 1' (ALL) Rocking The Charts

by Rainier on April 23, 2010 @ 1:25 a.m. PDT

A psychically empowered lagomorph battling unusual and fearsome villains can mean only one thing: Freelance Police Sam & Max are coming for a new series of monthly episodic games.

As Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse opens, Max has been bestowed with a set of powerful psychic abilities from an unusual ancient source that he'll wield against the strongest and strangest foes the Freelance Police have ever faced. Join gaming's greatest dog and rabbit sleuths as they investigate the source of these powers, with manic Max exercising new and amazing abilities with each episode. Max's shape shifting, teleportation, mind reading and future sight powers prove particularly useful as intergalactic simians, eldritch gods, under-dwellers and an arcane scholar ruthlessly hunt down these powers for their own evil ends. The teaser trailer released today at www.samandmaxgames.com/thedevilsplayhouse gives a peek at the skewed humor of The Devil's Playhouse. The very first in-game screenshots and new concept art are also posted at the site.

Telltale Games' new 5 game comedy saga, Sam & Max: the Devil’s Playhouse, is dominating the sales charts on multiple digital channels. Launched earlier this month The Devil’s Playhouse and its premiere episode The Penal Zone currently ranks in the top 10 sales charts in the iPad App Store and Steam, and the game is among the top 20 most downloaded titles on the PlayStation Store.

“This is the strongest debut for the dog and bunny detective to date - and for Telltale,” said Telltale CEO, Dan Connors. “PC and PlayStation 3 audiences have responded extremely well to the game, and we’re happy to bring our brand of storytelling to the new iPad audience, a community that is hungry for quality game content. The game is also the top seller by far right now at the TelltaleGames.com store.”

The second episode of Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse, called The Tomb of Sammun-Mak, releases next month.
