Show Your 'Bejeweled' Love Contest And Win iPads, Notebook PC, and More

by Rainier on April 28, 2010 @ 4:28 p.m. PDT

Bejeweled Twist removes the barriers of traditional match-3 games. Instead of swapping adjacent jewels to make a set, players rotate an entire 2x2 block of gems clockwise in an effort to create a line of three or more gems of the same type. Further, in Bejeweled Twist players don't have to make a match with every move - instead they can freely rotate gems anywhere on the board, allowing far greater liberty of movement and vastly increased strategic freedom to plan combinations, cascades and chains.

PopCap Games announced the inception of its “Show Your Bejeweled Love” contest as part of the company’s celebration of the 10th anniversary of its flagship franchise. The contest begins today and ends May 26th 2010 and is open to residents of the US, Canada (except Quebec) and the UK.

Participants must submit a YouTube video illustrating or describing their affinity for Bejeweled in two minutes or less. From the weird and wacky to the fun and fanatical, all sorts of submissions are welcome. US$5,000 in prizes will be awarded to the top 10 entries, including a limited edition notebook PC and two iPads, each with custom-designed, “Bejeweled 10th Anniversary” engravings.

“More than half a billion people worldwide have played Bejeweled over the past decade, which still blows our minds,” said Jason Kapalka, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer at PopCap and co-creator of Bejeweled.  “Their enthusiasm for the game is unquestioned and we thought it would be fun to reward that incredible devotion in some way.”

Members of PopCap’s art and game design teams will comprise the judging committee.

Judging will occur throughout the contest period and will be based on three equally weighted criteria: enthusiasm, presentation and knowledge of Bejeweled. Top entries will be posted on the site throughout the duration of the contest.  Complete contest rules and the official submission form can be found at www.bejeweled.com.
