'Trials HD' (XBLA) Voted Best XBLA Game in 2009, Drops Price As Thanks

by Rainier on April 7, 2010 @ 3:13 p.m. PDT

Trials HD is guaranteed to get your heart racing as you put on your helmet, and rev your way through a full-featured, physics-based motorcycle racing platformer in stunning HD graphics. Tear up more than 50 tracks and test your metal in two unique game modes: Race and Skill. Create, share and download an unlimited number of free tracks with the level editor, and customize your rider to fit your personality.
Trials HD is a full-scale, physics-based motorcycle racing game. The game features over 50 mind-boggling tracks (levels) in two unique game modes: Race and Skill. Race-mode emphasizes balance, skill and control as the player tries to tackle indoor obstacle tracks with minimum faults, as fast as possible. Skill-mode extends the riding into breath-taking, extreme stunt tracks, in which explosions, crashes, and injuries cannot be avoided. Skill-games also introduce a completely new type of in-game friend scores, unseen in any other Xbox LIVE Arcade game so far.

The physics model of RedLynx’s Trials-game is taken even further, allowing the tracks to vary hugely from extreme stunt tracks to skill-based race tracks and physics puzzles. The game also has stunning full 3D HD graphics, rider customization, unlockable bikes, global rankings, and many other Trials HD specific features. While playing the game, players also get to enjoy the perplexing, hilarious, and absolutely fearless voice-overs from truly bone-breaking Trials HD riders: Brandon DiCamillo, Art Webb and Rake Yohn!

“We couldn’t be happier,” said Antti Ilvessuo, Creative Director of RedLynx. “This validates our philosophy of building games around a fun, core gameplay mechanic, and of course, a lot of hard work by our extraordinarily gifted teams. Of course, we also want to thank the fans who chose our game.”

Microsoft said that more that one million players voted in an Xbox Live Arcade poll over a period of several weeks, before giving RedLynx’s stunt bike game top honors. It was also named ‘Most Innovative Game’ in the same survey.

As a way of saying thanks to the gaming audience, RedLynx is lowering the price of an earlier game in the series, Trials 2 SE, to just $1.99 in the RedLynx store until April 14.

Trials 2 SE on the PC is the forerunner, the game that inspired the major leaps forward in the series that became Trials HD,” said Tero Virtala, CEO of RedLynx. “Offering it at a deep discount is one way of saying thanks to all the fans that have embraced and supported Trials HD.”

The number of players currently on the game’s Leader Boards is rapidly approaching one million, or more than twice the population of RedLynx’s home base of Helsinki, the capital of Finland.

Features:

  • Tons of tracks: Over 50 versatile tracks will test your racing and stunt riding skills.
  • Level sharing: The level editor allows you to create your own levels and share them with other racers.
  • Customization: Unlock new bikes as you ride, and make your rider your own.
  • Leaderboards: Trials HD features a new type of in-game friend scores and global rankings
