'Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing' (ALL) DLC Adds Metal Sonic, New Track

by Rainier on April 8, 2010 @ 2:36 p.m. PDT

In a frantic battle to the checkered flag, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing sees Sonic and friends speed around tracks set in medieval castle ramparts, lush rain forests and bustling cities, all taken from the rich and varied universes of Sonic & SEGA.

In a frantic battle to the checkered flag, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing sees Sonic and friends speed around tracks set in medieval castle ramparts, lush rainforests and bustling cities, all taken from the visually rich and varied universes of Sonic and SEGA. Fan favourites such as Dr. Eggman, Tails, AiAi, Amigo and many more will join Sonic in their custom built vehicles, revving their engines and jostling to stay ahead of the pack. Each character will race around the track in cars, planes, motorbikes, and in AiAi’s case – a banana mobile! Secret short cuts, swift handling and avoiding strategically placed obstacles are certainly the best way to get to the top of the podium.

And winning is only part of the fun in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing! Each character has a specific All Star move such as Super Sonic, Banana Blitz and Tails Tornado, allowing a quick way for competitors to get back into the race! Power ups and weapons can also be collected around the tracks and used against the opposition to ensure they don’t become a threat to that number one position… Players can battle it out in single or multiplayer mode, allowing up to four friends to race in frantic split-screen action, or up to eight players to compete online in the ultimate racing showdown.

Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing also features a second Rare connection with the inclusion of Avatars, which appear in fully playable form and can take part in races by jumping into the 'Avacar'.

Sonic’s metallic doppelganger is available as part of a DLC pack which consists of not only himself but an awesome brand new track “Egg Hanger”, based around Death Egg Zone and 5 new music tracks to play with it. Tracks which even include “Never Let It Go”.

Yes you read right, Sonic The Fighters/Sonic Championship music is in the pack!

The full list is below…

  • Cosmic Fall
  • General Offensive
  • Never Let It Go
  • Egg Fleet
  • Space Gadget

Keep an eye out as you race around this expansive track, there’s even a couple of cameos in there if you look carefully enough. Don’t take until ‘Doomsday’ to find them though, eh?

The pack is available for 560 MSP. Due to an issue earlier it was being mistakenly priced at 800 points. SEGA put out a warning across the fan boards as soon as they found out., and is speaking with Microsoft to see if anything can be done for those of you who purchased early. Please make sure its says 560MSP when you purchase it.

PS3 users you will also be getting the Metal Sonic pack… but not today I’m afraid. The good news is I can at least tell you WHEN you’ll be getting the pack. The finalised pack will be hitting the PSN store on April 22nd along with your own version of the Premium Theme.

I’m told pricing will be as follows:

Metal Sonic & Track Pack £4.79 €5.99 $7.99
Premium Theme £1.59 €1.99 $2.49
