by Rainier on May 6, 2010 @ 8:14 a.m. PDT

Def Jam Rapstar delivers players a hip-hop experience that allows you to not only take on the role of a rap star so you can rhyme and sing along with the greatest hip-hop tracks, but also the opportunities to create all new rhymes, sharing your creativity and expressing yourself to the wider community.

Def Jam Rapstar captures the essence of what Hip Hop is all about:  the music, the battles and of course...the swagger.

The ultimate emcee experience for video game consoles, Def Jam Rapstar is the only music game that focuses exclusively on Hip Hop. With more than 40 of the greatest Hip Hop songs available at release, including region specific music for the UK and Europe, Def Jam Rapstar allows you to be the star: by rhyming, using your console camera, and uploading your video to the fully integrated Def Jam Rapstar community at the official website. Def Jam Rapstar also offers you the ability to freestyle over tracks by some of the hottest hip hop producers and upload your freestyle performances for the world to decide how good you really are.

Located in the heart of London’s West End, the 4mm Games office will initially focus on the sales and marketing for its upcoming title Def Jam Rapstar, as well as playing a broader part in the company’s long-term commitment to the European territory.

“4mm’s vision is of a world where people can play games together, constantly, everywhere. We deliver on this vision through our Constantly Connected Gaming™ platform and by being closer to our players,” said Nick Perrett, CEO of 4mm Games. “A London office is key to us being better able to serve our European customers, wherever they are.”

One of 4mm Games’ first orders of business was to appoint industry veteran Geoff Heath OBE, to its Advisory Board. Recently named OBE for service to the videogames industry, Mr. Heath has over 30 years of videogame experience that includes establishing Activision’s European presence, founding Mindscape in Europe, to more recently serving as CEO for NC Soft Europe. Geoff will be lending his expertise in helping 4mm establish their presence in the European market, as well as providing wider strategic input.

”In my career in the video games industry, I have rarely come across such a passionate, creative and talented management team as the guys at 4mm,” stated Mr. Heath. “I am thrilled to be a part of their future success and use the great things I’ve learned over the years to support them in becoming the major global player I know they are destined to be.”
