'Resident Evil Chronicles HD Selection' (PS3) Revealed

by Rainier on Oct. 31, 2011 @ 8:35 a.m. PDT

Resident Evil Chronicles HD Selection combines former Wii-exclusive rail shooters Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles into one bundle on the PS3, featuring Move support and HD graphics.

Following other Wii to PS3 ports such as No More Heroes, and Dead Space: Extraction, Capcom has revealed that it is bringing Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles and Resident Evil : The Umbrella Chronicles to the PS3.

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles‘ story is based on Resident Evil 2 and includes the popular characters, Leon S Kenney and Claire Redfield. Its on-rails style gameplay and active camera will create a more immersive “Chronicles” survival experience. As in the last installment, this is a first-person game with extreme shooting gameplay and interactive pathways. Filling in many of the missing pieces of storyline that were not covered in the original “Umbrella Chronicles”, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles will give hardcore fans the chance to re-live some of the most classic moments of the Resident Evil franchise, while allowing new players to take advantage of the intense action-horror experience only possible on the Wii.

Gamers can choose to take on their enemies with the help of an A.I.-controlled character or enlist the help of a friend to fight via two-player co-op. Adding new dimension and strategy to the arcade-style gameplay in the “Chronicles” experience, the new Evade system will utilize the Wii Remote for a more intense experience when fighting enemies.

Capcom’s new Resident Evil “Classics” line will allow the new audience who has embraced the Wii to experience some of the greatest games in the Resident Evil franchise for the value price of $29.99.

Resident Evil : The Umbrella Chronicles, which was released in November 2007 for the Wii, is a brand new game in the Resident Evil franchise, with familiar locales from the entire series, created specifically for the unique characteristics of the Wii console. This action/shooter hybrid reveals the back story behind the fall of the Umbrella Corporation by exploring locations from Resident Evil 0, 1, 2 and 3 as well as new never-before-seen locations, such as Umbrella’s stronghold. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles combines first-person, light-gun style combat with interactive pathways, multiple weapons and new enemies to create an entirely new Resident Evil experience that could only be delivered on the Wii. The game includes a two-player co-op mode and support for the Wii Zapper™ for even more intense light-gun style shooting action.

Features:

  • Using the Wii Remote as a gun, players can experience breathtaking combat against a horde of zombies and various creatures in dynamic first-person perspective.
  • 480p and 16:9 Widescreen support
  • Certain weapons can destroy environments and items. Shoot objects and watch them splinter, explode and disintegrate.
  • Interactive paths – choose various routes and pathways through the game, allowing for multiple levels of replayability
  • Multiple weapons, including pistols, submachine guns, rocket launchers, the trusty knife, grenades and many more.
  • Classic locations from previous Resident Evil games in full 3D, including the mansion from the original and RE 0, and elements of Raccoon City from RE2 and 3.
  • Umbrella's stronghold, a new location, holds many secrets to events throughout the RE series
  • Returning characters from many RE games, including Billy Coen, Rebecca Chambers, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira.
