'Joe Danger' (ALL) Special XBLA Edition Confirmed, Detailed - Screens

by Rainier on Nov. 4, 2011 @ 7:52 a.m. PDT

Stepping into the shoes of the world's most determined stuntman, players have to combo, boost and pull ludicrous tricks across more than 50 events to thrill the crowd and put Joe back on the podium.

It’s a riches to rags and back to riches tale, as old-school American daredevil Joe, publicly humiliated by the reckless Team Nasty at the start of the game, strives to regain his reputation as the Master of Disaster. Stepping into the shoes of the World most determined Stuntman players will have to combo, boost and pull ludicrous tricks across more than 50 events to thrill the crowd and put Joe back on the podium. As Joe, players will have to leap buses, pools full of ravenous sharks and enormous boxing gloves, as they attempt to wheelie their way into the record books. There’s a host of mini-games, including a puzzle mode and a built in level designer that can be accessed at any time, Little Big Planet-style, allowing gamers to torment their friends with their devious creations.

Featuring impressive cartoon-quality graphics, cartoon physics with comic timing, a custom built engine and a brilliant, slapstick sense of humour, Joe Danger gives arcade classics a nitro boost up the exhaust pipe, and puts the Evil in Evel Knievel. Sure, it’s dangerous business being a stuntman, but as world-class daredevil Lance Murdoch once said “Bones heal, chicks dig scars, and the United States has the best doctor to daredevil ratio in the world.”

Speaking earlier today founder Sean Murray, said; “We’re stupidly excited to be coming to XBLA, it’s frankly the most exciting day in Hello Games history so far. It's such an amazing opportunity for us to finally be able to reach all those millions of beautiful XBLA gamers. My brother has a 360, and he says he'll buy it for sure. Well, he promised he'll download the Trial at least.”

Hello Games also announced that the critically acclaimed Joe Danger Special Edition will come with huge additions and improvements, exclusively to Xbox LIVE Arcade.

With double the game play time of the original, Joe Danger Special Edition features a whole extra career to take on, including all new challenges, gameplay modes, and some awesome playable characters to unlock. You can even take a peek ‘behind the scenes’ with the insane laboratory levels and learn the secrets of the developers in the ultimate Joe Danger master class.

Sean added “This is a game we care so much about, we couldn't wait to go back and refine this idea we’ve now watched hundreds of thousands of people play through. We've basically added a whole new game’s worth of content too, including all new challenges, gameplay modes, and some awesome playable characters to unlock. The main addition is the Laboratory though. It's sort of a masterclass, a set of developer challenges that will test 360 gamer's to their limit."

Freeze the game at any point to enter edit-mode and change your world any way you want. Put a ramp down just before you land or place a ring of fire just before you go through it. Create the most ridiculous stunts you can think of, then use them to smash some World Records! Share your creations with all your friends and torment them with your devious creations.

“Joe Danger” uses advanced cartoon physics to create a world ripe with slapstick humor. Laugh in the face of Danger, but it laughs back when you crash, as you bounce from boulder to boulder, on fire, towards a pile of giant mousetraps.

Take on your friends to compete in outrageous Split Screen face-offs. Tricks earn boost which gives player’s the ability to gain ridiculous speeds and pull even bigger tricks. Master your motorbike, then take on the World with your high-scoring Combos.

Speaking of their future “Hello Games is still  a small team independently making games that we deeply care about. We're currently developing Joe Danger Special Edition, Joe Danger 2 : The Movie, and two unannounced titles. When Microsoft approached us with this opportunity, we knew the fit was a good one, and it's important to us that Special Edition was developed personally by Hello Games. It allows us to focus on doing what we enjoy most, making a great game.”
