2K Partners With XLGames to Develop MMO For Asian Market

2K announced a partnership with XLGAMES to develop and publish a massively multiplayer online game for the Asian market based upon one of 2K Games’ top-selling franchise.

“One of 2K’s key long-term initiatives is to bring our groundbreaking, triple-A entertainment experiences to broader audiences through emerging online platforms and markets,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “Our partnership with XLGAMES underscores our ongoing commitment to expanding 2K’s presence in online gaming and the Asian market by leveraging our creative expertise with companies that are proven leaders in the region. With the addition of the XLGAMES partnership, we have now announced three exciting projects to develop online games in Asia.”

“This is a great partnership between XLGAMES and 2K,” added Mr. Song. “We have already been working together for a year on the game, and I can tell you this is one of the most exciting projects that I’ve ever undertaken. I cannot wait to launch this collaboration, which illustrates our shared development talent and passion to create cutting-edge entertainment experiences.”

XLGAMES, Inc. was founded and is currently led by Jake Song, one of the most recognized figures in the online gaming industry in Korea. Mr. Song was also a co-founder of Nexon, as well as the acclaimed creator of the popular Lineage franchise and The Kingdom of Winds.
