'War Rock' Gets Makeover, New Content, PvP Olympics

by Rainier on July 5, 2011 @ 8:14 a.m. PDT

War Rock, developed by Dream Execution, is an online FPS game in the style of EA's Battlefield 2, allowing you to experience online battlefields on a large scale, supporing vechicles for land, sea and air.

War Rock is a military tactical first person shooter (FPS), featuring state of the art weapons, team or solo based play and unbelievable missions and maps! Provided as Free to Download and Free2Play, players have the option to purchase access to a wide variety of game play enhancing items and services - or play the game as it is without ever paying a dime! With five different character classes to master, gamers can play individually or in a team, and participate in multiple types of gameplay ranging from Free-For-All death matches to team battles utilizing powerful war vehicles.

Mass annihilation never looked better as the first-person shooter ignites with new high resolution texturing to landscapes, vehicles and weapons. In conjunction with the reconstructive makeover, GamersFirst embraces summer by challenging players in a true test of skill in the game’s biggest player versus player (PvP) event of the year, the 7th Annual War Rock Olympics, kicking off July 5. War Rock enlistees will face each other on the battlefield in a week-long competition testing skill, cunning and tactical planning, concluding in the traditional bikini and water balloon event and War Rock marketplace sale of epic proportions.

“The update adds an incredible dimension of intensity to the game’s environments,” said Chuck ‘Nemico’ Leonard, producer for War Rock. “War Rock fans will be visually submersed into combat deeper than ever before, battling with newly primed and polished weaponry in War Rock’s revamped, lush, war-ridden landscapes.”

The texture patch will be the largest update in War Rock’s eight year history with GamersFirst. With more than three times the texture count, everything about War Rock has received a visual upgrade. From player maps, building, vehicles to War Rock’s signature high powered weapons including the AUG, G36 Miniguns and RPG-7, not a stone has been left uptouched, bringing a whole new visual perspective to the seminal first-person shooter MMO.

War Rock Olympics VII

Summer is here and the War Rock Olympics takes the finest, most skilled players and teams, pitting them in a survival of the fittest in a PvP onslaught. Anyone can enter the games but only a few will join the ranks of elite players to be generously rewarded. The week-long event will feature ten challenges consisting of death matches, sniping, rockets, knife parties and more. Medals will be awarded to the top three overall participants along with in-game currency prizes up to 200,000 dinnars.

Summer Bikini Event

And it can’t be considered summer without spending some time romping around your favorite beachhead. Beginning July 7, gamers can delve in to treacherous territories of the Odyssey map and engage in tactically-intensive water balloon warfare. Skilled players will be handsomely rewarded with bikini pieces and the accompanying female characters to wear them. The higher the water balloon kill count the more valuable the reward to be dropped, which once obtained, can be used across all modes and playable maps.

Did someone say summer sale?

From July 5 until July 12, gamers can jump into the GamersFirst War Rock marketplace and take advantage of 33 percent off all items, including the popular exotic animal themed weapons. Players can launch incendiary rockets in a Tiger skinned M202A1 or lay waste en masse and in style with an Alligator skinned XM8 assault rifle, all at a discounted cost.
