Digital Chocolate has agreed to acquire Sandlot Games, casual game developer/publisher known for such titles as Cake Mania.

“Sandlot has built a great reputation in casual games,” said Trip Hawkins, Founder and CEO of Digital Chocolate. “We love their development teams and we can now expand further in Seattle and Eastern Europe. We expect to be the leading game company in at least 5 of the 7 cities where we now have development studios.”

With Sandlot Games, Digital Chocolate will have access to more developers and grow faster in pursuit of its cross-platform leadership strategy. The company makes social games that reach customers on every screen or device and has delivered more than 100 million game installs on the web, on mobile smartphones and on Facebook. Its leading brands include Army Attack, Zombie Lane and Millionaire City.

“We’re excited about joining forces with Digital Chocolate to grow globally. I look forward to building successful multiplatform games together,” said Dan Bernstein, Founder and CEO of Sandlot Games. He will become Vice President of Digital Chocolate and manage the Sandlot Studios in St. Petersburg, Russia and Bothell, Washington.
