99¢ Movie Rental Program Returns To PSN

by Rainier on Aug. 16, 2011 @ 7:37 p.m. PDT

At the heart of PS3 is the Cell Broadband Engine, one of the most advanced computer processors in the world, that enables massive floating point calculation, and Blu-ray Disc (BD) drive, providing a High Definition (1080p) next-generation gaming and movie experience in the home, as well as up to 50 GB of data capacity.

Beginning today, PlayStation Network users can rent a selection of movies and TV shows for 99¢ (SD) and $1.99 (HD) through the video section of the PlayStation Store. The storefronts will refresh the content available with new titles every Tuesday, and the movies discounted the previous week will return to their original price.

Since its initial debut in July 2011, the 99¢ movie rental program has been one of the most asked-for offers from the PlayStation Network community, who have enjoyed movies such as Crank, Reservoir Dogs, Crash, and dozens of others from various content partners.

Titles included in the first week of the 99¢ movie rental program in the US include:

August 16 – August 22:

  • Sicko
  • The Longshots
  • Salvage
  • Tony
  • Shank
  • Bonded By Blood
  • JFK: Reckless Youth (Part 1)
  • JFK: Reckless Youth (Part 2)
  • Deadly Blessing (Directed by Wes Craven)
  • Carver
  • Devil in the Flesh 2 (aka Teacher's Pet 2)
  • Illuminating Angels & Demons
