'Skylanders Spyro's Adventure' (ALL) Character Bios - New Screens

by Rainier on Aug. 23, 2011 @ 3:31 p.m. PDT

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure lets kids take on the role of a powerful Portal Master, who can control over 30 different characters, including the beloved purple dragon Spyro. The game allows players to transport real-world toys into virtual worlds of adventure through the Portal of Power.

These "toys with brains" can come to life inside the game in connection with multiple gaming platforms, as well as on handheld gaming devices, mobile devices and on the web, remembering achievements and level-ups wherever they go. This marks a wholesale change in the interaction between toys and video games, opening up new possibilities and revenue streams for both industries.

Activision brought its gaming expertise together with top Hollywood creative talent to bring Skylanders Spyro's Adventure to life.  The game and technology was developed by Activision's Novato, California studio, Toys for Bob, led by creative director and studio head, Paul Reiche. The adventure driven story was penned by two of the Academy Award nominated writers of the original Toy Story movie, Alek Sokolow and Joel Cohen. The result is a line of highly collectible characters, an engaging story, and an immersive interactive entertainment experience.

There are many unique and innovative elements to this experience, including:

  • Each Character Has its Own Unique Powers — In addition to the highly collectible design and personalities of the toys themselves, each character has different powers and abilities, opening different experiences inside the game. Players can drop in and out of each level with as many different characters as they like, making each players experience unique.
  • Toys With Brains — Each toy/character remembers the player's shared experiences. Achievements and leveled up capabilities earned in the game are embedded inside the toy and travel with the toy. Wherever the toy goes, its experiences go with it.
  • Portal of Power — The Portal of Power serves as the gateway between our world and the amazing world of the characters in Skylanders Spyro's Adventure.
  • Play With Friends — By placing two characters on the Portal of Power at once, players can team up together for cooperative play, or face off in player versus player battle arenas utilizing their leveled up characters.
  • Diverse Experiences on Diverse Devices — While the toys can be used with gaming consoles to play the disc based game, completely different gaming experiences await them on the mobile app and inside the Web World, each of which were designed specifically for those platforms. The result is a remarkable number of different gaming experiences in one game.

As it turned out, it was made of cursed steel. He journeyed to a dragon’s lair where a single blast of fire transformed him into a blazing spirit, binding him to the suit of armor for eternity. Despite this setback, Ignitor remains a spirited knight who is always fired up to protect the lands from evil and find the witch that tricked him.

Eruptor

  • Element: Fire
  • Primary Attack: Lava Lob
  • Secondary Attack: Eruption
  • Upgrades include:
    • Mega Magma Balls
    • Heavy Duty Plasma
    • Super Eruption

Eruptor is a force of nature, hailing from a species that lived deep in the underground until a volcano launched their entire civilization onto the crust. He’s a hot head with a strong dislike for anything evil, so whenever something bad threatens his world, he quickly erupts… quite literally. To help control his temper, he likes to relax in lava pools, particularly because there are no crowds.

Prism Break

Element: Earth
Primary Attack: Energy Beams
Secondary Attack: Shard Summon
Upgrades include:

o Chained Refraction
o Crystalline Armor
o Focused Energy

Prism Break was once a fearsome rock golem who didn’t like to be disturbed. Then, an accidental cave‐in left him buried underground. One hundred years later, a Mabu mining expedition digging for valuable jewels discovered him by chance… with a well‐placed blow from a pick axe that Prism Break would rather not mention. After 100 years of solitude, he found that the pressure of the earth had transformed him, turning his crude rocky arms into incredible gems with powerful energy. From that day forward, he dedicated himself to protecting the Mabu and Skylands alongside the other Skylanders.

Stump Smash

  • Primary Attack: Wood Hammer
  • Secondary Attack: Acorn Spit
  • Upgrades include:
    • Petrified Pummel

Stump Smash was once a magical tree creature that spent most of his time sleeping peacefully in the forests of Skylands. His long branches were gone, leaving him only with powerful mallets for hands, which he used to smash the Trolls’ tree‐cutting machines. Although still grumpy about what happened to him, Stump Smash has vowed to protect Skylands against those who would do it harm… especially Trolls.

Zap

  • Element: Water
  • Primary Attack: Electric Bolt
  • Secondary Attack: Water Surge
  • Upgrades include:
    • Electro‐Slime
    • Mega‐Volt
    • Wave Rider

Zap is a water dragon who was raised in the seas of Skylands by a family of electric eels. Although he is friendly and well‐liked by most sea creatures, he has a long standing feud with the dolphins. They don’t like that he regularly shocks them by accident when they ride the ocean waves together, and he usually takes offense at the dolphins saying the shocks are no accident… and sometimes they’re right. But despite these minor differences of opinion, Zap has proven to be a true protector of the seas and of Skylands.

Flameslinger

  • Element: Fire
  • Primary Attack: Flaming Arrows
  • Secondary Attack: Fire Dash
  • Upgrades include:
    • Searing Arrows
    • Firestorm
    • Inferno Blast

Flameslinger is an elf archer with incredible aim. In fact, he is so good that he wears a blindfold just to prove it. When he was young, he rescued a fire spirit from a watery doom and was gifted an enchanted bow and magical fire boots that he now masterfully uses to defeat evil throughout Skylands. With the scorched earth he leaves behind, you can always tell where he has been.

  • Upgrades include:
    • Spiked Shield Bash
    • Arkeyan Vorpal Blade
    • Vampiric Aura

Chop Chop was once an Elite Guard belonging to the ancient Arkeyan beings. Like many of the Arkeyans, he was created from a hybrid of elements ‐ in his case, undead magic and technology. The Arkeyans had created massive armies of synthetic soldiers, and the Elites were the most powerful of these. Chop Chop is a relentless, highly‐skilled warrior who wields a sword and shield made of an indestructible metal. Refusing to believe that his people had disappeared, Chop Chop was scouring the kingdom looking for an Arkeyan leader to give him his next set of orders when he was found by Eon and recruited as a Skylander.

Dark Spyro

  • Element: Magic
  • Primary Attack: Flameball
  • Secondary Attack: Horn Charge
  • Upgrades include:
    • Flight
    • Fire Shield
    • Triple Flameballs

Spyro is a rare magical dragon with the ability to harness the power of the other elements, though he prefers to master fire. However, this innate power also leaves him vulnerable to the influence of dark magic. When the Darkness is nearby, Spyro can channel its energy and combine its power with his own, becoming Dark Spyro. Over the years, he has learned to focus and control his power, using this dark magic to fight the forces of evil.

Under his tutelage, she has spent the majority of her life training in the art of stealth fighting. After completing her training, she became a Skylander and set out into the world to uncover the mystery behind her origins.

  • Element: Magic
  • Primary Attack: Axe Reaver
  • Secondary Attack: Zipline Axe
  • Upgrades include:
    • Magical Tripwire
    • Extended Blade
    • Electro Axe

A highly decorated soldier of his people, Voodood once commanded a well‐known team of dangerous warriors. After becoming its last living member, he joined the Skylanders. Ever since he was a young orc, Voodood has collected rare and interesting bones that he uses to create weapons and devices ‐ his favorite being the grappling hook, which grants him tremendous agility in combat. When not fighting evil, he is constantly searching for new and exotic bones to expand his collection..

Bash

  • Element: Earth
  • Primary Attack: Tail Swipe
  • Secondary Attack: Rock Roll
  • Upgrades include:
    • Iron Tail
    • Mace of Destruction
    • Gaia Hammer

Bash spent most of his early dragonhood gazing into the sky, watching the flying creatures of Skylands soar amongst the clouds. Determined to join them, he learned how to curl himself into a ball and roll with incredible momentum in a vain attempt to take flight. Over the years, his skin hardened, forming a natural protective armor unlike any other creature. He now thunders through Skylands, leaving a wake of destruction against any who threaten it. Despite his thick skin, he still gets a bit touchy about his inability to fly.

Sonic Boom

  • Element: Air
  • Primary Attack: Sonic Roar
  • Secondary Attack: Egg Toss
  • Upgrades include:
    • Loudmouth
    • Griffin Flight
    • Egg Shocker

Long ago Sonic Boom took refuge high atop a mountain peak in the far reaches of Skylands. Away from the mystical dangers of the outside world, she had hoped to keep her griffin hatchlings safe. But despite her precautions, a devious wizard tracked her down and placed a wicked curse on the griffin eggs. Once hatched, the young griffins can live for only mere moments before they magically return to their shells... only to be hatched again in an endless cycle. Wanting to prevent such evil from happening to others, Sonic Boom joined the Skylanders and has trained her young to defend Skylands each time they are hatched.

To support the launch of the game, Toys "R" Us will join forces with Activision for a global marketing partnership in which stores across the globe will feature several Skylanders Spyro's Adventure exclusives this fall.

Each of these heroes is a protector of an amazing, mysterious world, but they have been ejected from their world by the sinister Portal Master known as Kaos and now they are frozen in our world as toys. Only the players of Skylanders Spyro's Adventure can get them back into their world, by embarking on a fantastical journey where they will explore mythical lands, battle menacing, outlandish creatures, collect treasures, and solve challenging puzzles as a part of the quest to save their world.
