City State Entertainment Founded By Ex-Mythic Execs

Independent game development studio City State Entertainment has announced its existence to the gaming industry, formed by Mark Jacobs, co-founder and former CEO of Mythic Entertainment and co-founder Andrew Meggs, former Senior Software Engineer from Bethesda Games Studios, Mythic Entertainment and Troika Games.

Mark serves as the studio’s President and Creative Director while Andrew is the Technical Director and Lead Programmer. CSE has been quietly building out its team since March and with that now complete, is ready to take some of the wrappings off of the new studio.

“The combination of people and resources we've assembled truly creates the opportunity of a lifetime for everyone involved,” says Meggs. “Our fully armed and operational development group is moving forward rapidly, and we're all eager to bring our first game out into the world.”

City State Entertainment is comprised of an eclectic mix of talented developers who hail from both inside and outside the gaming industry. Game industry veterans who are already onboard have, in prior lives and studios, worked on such well known and award-winning titles as: Dark Age of Camelot, The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, Aliens Online, Warhammer Online, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines; Myth III The Wolf Age, Neverwinter Nights 2, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords and The Temple of Elemental Evil: A Classic Greyhawk Adventure.

“To me it feels like it’s 1995 when I co-founded Mythic,” says Jacobs. “I’m incredibly fortunate to find myself surrounded by a team of talented and hungry developers. Once we launch our first game, I’m hoping to be able to finally feed them.”

City State Entertainment is a brand-focused studio creating intellectual property for the mobile, tablet and social networking spaces. It brings together the skills and expertise of people who have worked on everything from single-player, strategy games to MMORPGs. That experience, combined with an open and collaborative environment, has already allowed the studio to iterate quickly on ideas and CSE is anticipating a Q4 release for its first game. CSE’s games won’t change the world, cure cancer or raise the S&P rating for the USA but they will simply be fun to play.

“It’s an incredibly interesting time to start a new studio,” says Jacobs. “To put it bluntly, the game’s afoot.”
