Good Old Games Adds Classic Square Enix Titles

by Rainier on Jan. 26, 2012 @ 1:00 p.m. PST

GOG.com has signed a digital distribution agreement with Square Enix, expanding its catalog with classics like Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition and Hitman: Codename 47m, priced $9.99 and $5.99 respectively, both Win7/Vista compatible, and DRM free.

Deus Ex, praised for its groundbreaking approach to gameplay, uniquely combines first-person shooter and role-playing game elements, while offering inventive player choices and multiple narrative paths. In the world of Deus Ex, every action and decision has a consequence. The game tells the story of anti-terrorist agent JC Denton, who is trying to stop the world from plunging into chaos and destruction while discovering a deep and complex conspiracy. The original Deus Ex gave birth to one of the most influential franchises in the gaming history, including the recent blockbuster, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Deus Ex: Game Of the Year Edition is available for only $9.99 and features bonus content including the game soundtrack, an avatar, the game manual and controls reference card, and two wallpapers.

Hitman: Codename 47 is the first entry in what is becoming a five-part franchise with the release of Hitman: Absolution in 2012. The original instalment took stealth games to a completely new level with elaborate contract schemes, multiple termination options, and, naturally, the mysterious 47: a cold-blooded contract killer with no past and a future decided completely by the people who created him. 47's bald head, leather gloves and red tie made him the iconic professional killing machine. Hitman: Codename 47 is available now for $5.99, with added bonus content including four avatars, the game manual and controls reference card, and wallpaper.

Many other fantastic games from Square Enix will be released on GOG.com service in coming weeks from a number of other IPs, but for now swing by the digital distributor and pick up either Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition or Hitman: Codename 47 and relive some of the best moments in classic PC gaming.
