Secret World Legends plunges players into a shadowy war against the supernatural in an adventure that crosses our world with the realms of ancient myth and legend.

An ancient, dreaming evil stirs. Dangerous creatures awaken. The Earth is in mortal peril. The wonders and horrors of the secret world are re-emerging in our world. The time has come to take up arms in the war between good & evil. Warriors and champions of Gaia, your training is about to begin. Rise. You have been chosen.

For there really is a world within ours, a secret world, where magic exists, monsters roam and ancient forces are fighting for the dominance of earth. It is a world of legendary stories, ageless conflicts and powerful cabals. In this world, even modern cities hide secrets. In this world, players can take part in the greatest conspiracies of our age, and battle the forces of darkness across the world and throughout time.

Long-time Funcom designer Joel Bylos recently stepped into the position as Game Director for the company’s recently released modern-day massively multiplayer game  ‘The Secret World’, and today the newly appointed lead released his first letter on the state of the game to the press and the community. In the letter, Mr. Bylos reflects on the game’s initial reception and what the team wanted to achieve before he goes into both short-term and long-term plans for the game.

“I need to do everything in my power to convince gamers out there who still have not played  ‘The Secret World’ that this is a universe worth immersing yourself in,” says Game Director Joel Bylos in his letter. “It is a crowded market out there and we have a lot of competition, so I know that we will need to make improvements but also expand on the game’s unique strengths to make it stand out  even more clearly. It is definitely going to be a challenge and fortunately I am bringing one of the most talented teams ever with me into the fray. Our sleeves are rolled up. We have our war paint on. We are ready for battle.”

Looking to the future, Mr. Bylos reveals exciting new details about the upcoming update for  ‘The Secret World’ called  ‘Issue #4: Big Trouble in the Big Apple’, the fourth content update after the game launched just over three months ago. He also spends time talking about the longer term plans and serves up a glimpse into what the team is doing to address key elements such as improving animation and making the secret society conflict even more exciting. Mr. Bylos also briefly hints at the upcoming  raid investigation missions which build on one of the most heralded features in the myths and legends MMO.
