'Paper Mario: Sticker Star' (ALL) Diorama Contest

by Rainier on Oct. 29, 2012 @ 1:24 p.m. PDT

On the day of the annual Sticker Fest, Bowser pulls a prank and scatters six Royal Stickers across the land. To retrieve these mysterious, magical stickers, which are now stuck onto Bowser and his underlings, Mario sets off on an adventure with Kersti, a sticker fairy, visiting prairies, deserts, forests, snowy mountains and volcanoes around the world.

Nintendo is inviting Mario fans of all backgrounds to create colorful dioramas that depict scenes from the new game. Participants in the contest will be eligible to win one of five prize packages that include a Nintendo 3DS XL system, a copy of Paper Mario: Sticker Star, a gift certificate redeemable in the Nintendo eShop and a handmade papercraft trophy.

The imaginative art style and environments in Paper Mario: Sticker Star are like dioramas unto themselves, featuring an array of fun craft-themed elements such as clouds that hang from string, characters that appear to be cut from sheets of paper and countless stickers that can dramatically affect game play. Participants in the diorama contest can view pictures of characters and levels from Paper Mario: Sticker Star at a special application integrated into the Nintendo 3DS page on Facebook and select which scenes they want to use as the inspiration for their diorama. Entrants can submit photos or videos of their work now through Nov. 7, 2012.

“Imagination and creativity are part of Nintendo’s DNA,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Giving fans a chance to unleash their own creative talents is a terrific way to set the stage for the Nov. 11 launch of Paper Mario: Sticker Star, an experience that’s only available on Nintendo 3DS.”

The contest is open to U.S. residents 13 years old and older. No purchase is necessary. Entries will be judged on three criteria: Spirit (how well entries demonstrate a love for the Paper Mario franchise), Creativity (how well entries demonstrate creativity) and Quality (the overall artistic quality of the diorama as showcased in the submitted photo or video). Complete contest rules and eligibility requirements can be found at here.
