Rockstar Games have received some reports about problems with the Max Payne 3 PC Patch 1.0.0.56.  Here are a list of the issues we have seen reported:

Social Club saying that you are not connected to the Internet: A small number of players reported this issue in the past, prior to this patch.  Please refer to steps found here

Error message about downloading files from Social Club: This issue was also reported by a small percentage of players when previous patches went live.  Please note that this problem can normally be solved by downloading and installing the appropriate update files manually.  However, we have removed 1.0.0.56 from the page due to problem reports and will be updating that page with 1.0.0.57 as soon as it is ready.  We would recommend waiting until the latest patch link has been added to that article.

Game switching to Japanese after the patch: We are aware of this issue unique to 1.0.0.56 and are working on an immediate fix.  In the meantime, you can use a command line (for example, "-language english") to force the game into your desired language.  For more information on using command lines in Max Payne 3.

Incompatible data when joining games: This issue typically occurs when players are trying to connect to others who are playing on different versions of the game.  For example, when a patched player tries to connect to an unpatched player who has left the system on through the patch deployment and has not yet updated.  We recommend making sure that all players in the game have rebooted and successfully installed the latest update.

Being reset to rank 1: We have seen a few reports from players who say their rank level and grinds have been reset, both on PC and non-PC platforms.  Rest assured that we are looking into these reports and are in the process of gathering information to help us investigate.  We have created a separate article for this subject, to which you may subscribe for updates.
