'Sacred Citadel' (ALL) Introduces Khukuri Shaman - Screens

by Rainier on Dec. 5, 2012 @ 3:05 p.m. PST

Sacred Citadel is a side-scrolling action brawler that is set in the rich universe of Sacred, reinventing the familiar arcade feel of classic brawlers while setting a new standard for the future of side scrolling hack and slash games.

Three warriors unite against an evil that threatens to enslave the once peaceful world of Ancaria. Lord Zane’s Ashen Empire has created an army of Grimmocs, modified Orc henchmen at war with the Seraphim. Only when these heroes unite and use their skills to support each other they will stand a chance!

There are several playable character classes, such as the Safiri Warrior, the Ancarian Ranger and the Khukuri Shaman, each with a different skill set that can be further individualized through RPG features and collectible items. Each character will also have the ability to dual-wield two exchangeable weapons, use combo attacks and perform double jumps. All of which combines into a fluid and unique arcade game experience with sophisticated graphics and spectacular effects. The player will also be able to ride mounts, use war machines and spend his hard earned cash in towns all over the world of Sacred Citadel.

Fierce Grimmoc warriors have almost brought the companions to their knees. The Safiri Warrior is overwhelmed by the sheer number of onrushing fighters, and his health is rapidly decreasing. In comes the Khukuri Shaman – quickly, she casts a spell to heal her party members. To counter the overpowering Grimmoc horde, she then rushes into battle to deal out crackling energy bolts with her magic wand.

Unlike the Safiri Warrior, the Khukuri Shaman is not one to fight in the front line of a battle, but she has other, more bewitching ways of influencing her opponents. As a Shaman, she can cause buff effects on herself, the whole group, and even the enemy! She can heal her companions, strengthen the group's attack skills, or even curse their enemies in order to blow them up. The Shaman represents the healer class in Sacred Citadel and adds an important tactical element to the co-op focus of the game.

Coming from the Aeshema Mountains, the race of the Khukuri has lived in seclusion for many centuries. Their home is a land of ice and wind, located in the northwest of Ancaria. But now the gods have ceased to communicate with the Khukuri, and their scouts speak of evil in the lowlands that will also endanger their remote homeland in the near future. Hence, the Khukuri head out into foreign lands to discover what has caused their gods to fall silent.

The events in Sacred Citadel will act as a prologue to the next chapter of the Sacred story and will unveil an intriguing secret about the Seraphim that will directly relate to the action RPG Sacred 3, currently in development by keen games and to be released in 2013.
