'Cross Fire' Content Update Adds New Game Mode And Weapons

by Rainier on Feb. 2, 2012 @ 7:20 a.m. PST

In Cross Fire, two international mercenary forces corporations are at war. Players assume the role of either a Black List mercenary or a Global Risk terrorist, and join an online team that must work together to succeed in completing objective-based scenarios.

Participants assume the roles of online characters that interact with other players while engaging in battle and other activities through multiple levels. New to this genre, is the revenue model whereby the game is free to download and play, but players purchase value-added, in-game services and assets, along with premium features that enhance the game experience. Cross Fire is the role model of a first person shooter game with stable and powerful action as well as a strategic battle map. The game boasts sophisticated graphics and a unique system which allows the game to run smoothly even on low-end PCs.

With two international mercenary forces corporations at war, players assume the role of either a Black Risk mercenary or Global Risk terrorist, and join an online team that must work together to win certain objective-based scenarios. There are four modes of play in the game including Team Death Match, Exploder Match, Elimination Match and Ghost Match. Upon successful completion of these exciting and competitive modes and matches, players earn experience points and achievements which advance their character up various military ranks.

Team Death Match is the meat and potatoes of the multiplayer first-person shooter. In this mode, two teams fight to the death with the number of kills separating the winners from the losers. Cross Fire will feature 8 on 8 team death matches across 6 unique locales including, a cursed Egyptian tomb, an abandoned railway station, and a speedway in Monaco. Players can assemble a team of their friends using Cross Fire’s integrated Friends Lists, or create a clan using Cross Fire’s clan formation system and gain notoriety as your clan ascends up the online ranks.

The free update features the new Hero Mode X, which puts players in control of one of two new playable characters: the electricity-equipped alien “Xeno”, or the dual kukri-wielding Commando. The update also packs 6 new weapons and 3 new ribbons to earn for your player profile, in addition to a variety of new equipment items.  To mark the release of this exciting new mode, Z8Games will be hosting events through February 5th in which players can earn new weapons and items, just for playing. For current players, the update will download automatically upon launching Cross Fire.

The electricity-infused alien, Xeno, has landed. Under its leadership, Mutants everywhere are now united towards the goal of conquering Earth!  To combat the alien threat, an elite squad of super Commandos armed with dual Kukri’s and a no fear attitude has risen up. Play as either Xeno or Commando in the new Hero Mode X and earn three new ribbons to show off on your profile as a symbol of your participation in Earth’s final battle! Hero Mode X debuts with two maps: the multi-level “Mansion”, and the gritty, suburban “Rooftops”.

The Hero Mode X update also includes six new weapons: a Remington 870 shotgun, an RX4 Storm assault rifle, a tiger-striped AWM sniper rifle, a camo-skinned QBZ95, and an MG3 machine gun with an alternate gold-skin variant. These weapons are available via the in-game Store and Black Market.
