'Nexuiz' (ALL) Launches Limited PC Beta

by Rainier on April 10, 2012 @ 1:59 p.m. PDT

Nexuiz is a 3D deathmatch game that is simply first person shooting reduced to the very basics with perfect weapon balancing. With its very intense and fast gameplay, it will hook the user in.

IllFonic’s remake of Nexuiz features a new Victorian influenced art style that is simultaneously futuristic and sophisticated.

Nexuiz is a fast paced Arena first-person shooter with competitive game play built specifically for consoles. Featuring the innovative mutator system, players progress through the ranks opening up new mutators that allow players to alter the rules for each match. On launch, Nexuiz will feature multiplayer modes including Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag complete with full competitive leader boards designed for social networking. New games modes, models, and maps will be available as downloadable content post launch.

Places are limited, and access keys can be claimed on a first come, first served basis via Alienware's website.

"PC is the home of the arena shooter," said Kedhrin Gonzalez, creative director at Illfonic. "We've been working hard to make the PC version of Nexuiz the best we can, and add the features and support that the discerning PC audience expects. This beta will help us fine tune our online service, and we hope players will have a blast with it."

The PC version of Nexuiz will include a number of enhancements and changes over the console version including:

  • Dedicated server support and game browser
  • Enhanced, CryENGINE 3 powered graphics with DX11 support
  • Advanced custom controls, new HUD and a 15 percent increase to player speed for ultimate twitch-shooter experience -- and immersive feedback utilizing Alien FX by Alienware!

Nexuiz is set in a galactic war fueled for centuries by the Kavussari and Forsellians. Over time the two races entered into treaties with the Herald Accord, a union between different cultures in the galaxy. Even though peace settled across their planets, the seething hatred between the races kept the fire of war simmering under the fragile truce. Sensing their newest members could spread war throughout the galaxy; the Herald Accord gave the Kavussari and Forsellians a choice. Pit their warriors against each other in the arena rather than on the fields of war, or face total annihilation. The Nexuiz was formed, a series of battle arenas on the home planets of the Kavussari, Forsellian and the desolate planet of Atavirta.

Nexuiz features a heavyweight soundtrack from artists including Flying Lotus, Dam Funk and Trisector.

Nexuiz is currently available on Xbox Live for 800 Microsoft Points, while the PC version will retail for $9.99.
