'Universal Monsters Online' Enters Closed Beta, Accepting Sign-ups

The Universal Monsters will be a 3rd-person, multiplayer action RPG that weaves together the lore of all of the classic Universal Monsters into a single, cohesive game world rife with themes from the classic films.

Frankenstein’s Monster, Dracula, The Wolf Man and many others come together to wreak havoc among unsuspecting villagers and townsfolk. With the ability to personalize their fighting style, players will experience the monsters’ journey as they travel to iconic locations and defeat hordes of angry mobs. Players will assemble their crew and join in the harrowing adventures of doom and horror!

Bigpoint aspires to capture the integrity of each property and include some of the early film techniques used in bringing the original monster characters to the silver screen.  The Mummy Online will recreate the style and intricate detail found onscreen in The Mummy franchise.  In developing these titles as browser-based games, both projects will be artistically unique and offer distinct gameplay.  Universal Pictures granted Bigpoint access to its vast image library to assist in the creative development of these projects.

“We’re excited to have players jump into the closed beta of Universal Monsters Online,” said Billy Delli-Gatti, Producer, Bigpoint. “During this phase, we’re able to test and optimize the game for improvements, and the community feedback we receive will help to ensure that the game is fun and entertaining.”

During the closed beta, players will be whisked into character selection mode where they can choose from a diabolical lineup of legendary monsters – Dracula, The Wolf Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and of course, Frankenstein’s monster among many others. Full-team cooperation will be demanded to survive, succeed, and defeat the town’s chaotic villagers, zombies, and seemingly indestructible turrets.

Registration for Universal Monster Online’s exclusive closed beta before its worldwide release can be found on the official website.  In the following weeks, Bigpoint will increasingly unlock new player accounts for gamers to experience their favorite classic Universal Monsters in a refreshing new MOBA.
