'RiotZone' Content Update To Add Gameplay Changes, Item Upgrades and More

by Rainier on Sept. 4, 2012 @ 9:29 p.m. PDT

Set in a tropical country disrupted by civil war, RiotZone is a new browser-based MMO in which gamers engage in ferocious tactical combat.

The story is set in the tropical jungle where players battle to deliver the future of the civil war torn state of Merania. Semi-automatic rounds show which of the two playable factions will emerge victorious from the war. Tactical decisions, the strategic outfit of mercenaries and clever handling of the special abilities available determine the difference between victory or defeat. A good dose of black humor, unique game characters and addictive gameplay attract fans to the monitor.

With short game sessions, during which gamers single-mindedly adopt the special skills of their units, RiotZone is especially appealing to casual gamers. The comic style and exaggerated characters offer a pleasant distraction from conventional strategy games. RiotZone is free to play and does not require a client or installation.

The update will include item upgrades, changes in gameplay and much more.

Scarlet Mercenaries: You can now hire a scarlet mercenary without going through an agency! If you've reached level 20, you'll get a chance to grab yourself a booby-trapped container. Inside the container, as well as a 5-day VIP status extension, stars, parts and some violet equipment, you'll find a contract for one of the scarlet mercenaries: Amber, Iceman or the Judge. The box will only appear once.

If you have an old booby-trapped container that's been lying around gathering dust, you'll now be able to sell it for five stars for one day after you receive the new booby-trapped container.

Weapon Upgrades: You can buy weapon upgrades (from level 20 and up) in the store or obtain them in "The Dictator's Six". You can get parts by selling spare upgrades or buying them in the premium store. Following the latest update, 5-star upgrades can be bought for 5 parts. Upgrades for items other than weapons will become available in future.

Bar: The probability of getting good mercenaries increases each time you refresh. The number of no-hopers is reduced.

Patrol: For each hour you spend on patrol, you might get some stars. The probability of receiving stars depends on the level of the bar.

In Merania, civil war is raging. Two rival organizations have declared war on the Dictator: the fighters of the Scarlet Alliance are striving for the rule of the people, and are known for their fanaticism. The Crown Coalition prefers a cold-minded, business-like approach. As commanders of mercenary squads, players place themselves in the service of one of these organizations. Leading bold forays, planning ambushes, intercepting convoys or capturing military bases - a leader has a lot to do! There is also no time to rest between fights either. Commanders are in charge of setting up camp, gathering resources and training their units; they control the finances and provide new equipment. From level five on, players can use a multitude of enthralling PvP options such as team combat or invasions of enemy territory. Mass battles will decide who takes control of the game zone.

Anti-malaria’s? Check. Food? Check. Adequate equipment? Check. Good preparation is essential in “RiotZone”. Gamers will not only fight for one of the two factions – The Red Alliance or the Coalition of the Crown - but also train their soldiers, upgrade weapons and expand their base. These role-playing elements turn out to be authoritative in later gameplay. Only the coolest strategic thinkers will prevail in numerous missions and PvP battles. “RiotZone” scores with many PvP modes: 1on1, 2on2 and 3on3 are just the beginning. Raids on enemy territory, conquest of resource-rich areas and large-scale battlefields require the commander within the gamer. Semi-automatic fights allow dynamic and spontaneous short-time battles where players can bring in a lot of extra firepower in form of various special abilities.
