'Dead Rising 3' (XOne) Gets Free Demo, Operation Eagle DLC Details

by Rainier on Dec. 13, 2013 @ 6:46 a.m. PST

Set 10 years after Dead Rising 2, Dead Rising 3 takes place in Los Perdidos amid a zombie outbreak that's about to decimate mankind.

Follow Nick Ramos, a young mechanic with a strange tattoo and a mysterious past who must escape the city before a military strike wipes the city off the map. Nick joins other survivors to stay alive and fight their way out.

Dead Rising 3 features a world that's bigger than the first two titles combined, representing a benchmark for open-world gameplay. Explore the vast city seamlessly with fast load times, staying immersed in the action and impressive visuals. Overwhelming zombie hordes with shared awareness force you to employ all your combat skills and creativity to stay alive.

Operation Eagle is the first Dead Rising 3 DLC installment to the Untold Stories of Los Perdidos. This episode puts you in control of Spec Ops Commander Adam Kane on a mission that challenges everything he believes and sets him out to capture the missing President of the United States. Operation Eagle features a new mission, five new weapons, one new combo weapon, one new vehicle, a new clothing outfit, plus additional Gamerscore and the ability to carry experience points back to Dead Rising 3.

Dead Rising 3 Operation Eagle DLC will become available Dec. 24, 2013.

For those who are looking to experience the thrill of the zombie apocalypse for the first time, Capcom Vancouver also revealed a free interactive “Dead Rising 3” demo to taste the action. Explore the zombie-infested district of Ingleton within Los Perdidos for weapon blueprints, and combo weapons and vehicles to help you kill as many zombies as you can! The 20-minute timed sandbox can be experienced up to two times per gamertag.

You can create an almost limitless variety of combo weapons. A sledgehammer or a saw might not hold off the zombie horde, but fuse them, and you'll have a fearsome sledge saw. As you progress, combination weapons become more deadly.

Dead Rising 3 also emphasizes vehicles, but zombies cling to cars, and that affects the vehicle's steering physics.

Newcomers to the series can explore at their own pace and enjoy the streamlined save system. Veteran players face tough zombies in Nightmare mode, which features a countdown clock.

Team up with a buddy for online co-op over Xbox Live. You can jump in or out at any time, and you'll both earn experience to progress in your own single-player games.

Dead Rising 3 and Xbox SmartGlass transform your tablet or phone into a zZombie defense PDA. Swamped by the zombie horde? You or your couch buddy can call in an airstrike. Ready to start a new mission? Incoming in-game calls and text messages deliver briefings.

With Kinect, the zombie horde can respond to noises within your living room. Use motion controls to fight out of grapples, use voice commands to control your survivors, and taunt your enemies!
