'Death Inc.' Revives With Fan Funding - Screens

Death Inc. is a unique blend of real-time strategy, god game and business simulation, where the player controls Grim T. Livingstone, freelance reaper, and sees him rampage his pestilential horde through the 17th century infecting everyone he can with the plague.

After a failed Kickstarter campaign, Ambient Studios's god/strategy/action game has risen from the grave – and is now available to pre-purchase from $10.

The full game will be available in November 2013 for £14.99 ($19.99) but players who want to support the title’s development can pledge their support now and get immediate access to the alpha version, which is downloadable from today for $10. Those playing the alpha will gain a unique insight into the game’s development until launch, including access to special pre-purchase-only development builds, secret forums and other assorted goodies.

“We were overwhelmed by the support we received during our recent Kickstarter campaign,” says Jonny Hopper, Director, Ambient Studios. “Despite the fact we didn’t reach our initial target,  we did raise support of over £122,000 – that’s a tremendous amount of support which has given us the confidence to push on.

“Doing it ourselves has also given us the freedom to give more back to the community. Players who pre-purchase the game now will be able to join us on this incredible journey as Death Inc. helping us shape it into the game we know will be enjoyed by the world over. The tiered nature of Kickstarter meant it made sense for us to limit alpha access to players who pledged $40 or more; now everyone who supports us will get immediate access to the game through until the final version later this year.”
