'Defiance' Most Wanted Contest Winner Announced, Will Be Featured In TV Series

by Rainier on June 19, 2013 @ 9:09 a.m. PDT

In Defiance players are introduced to a world where humans and aliens live together on a planet ravaged by decades of conflict. The game combines the intense action of a shooter, with the persistence, scale, and customization of an MMO, while its TV counterpart exudes the scope, story, and drama of a classic sci-fi epic.

On a future Earth ravaged by aliens and 50 years of global war, a civilization emerges that rejects the old ways to forge a new destiny in a wild frontier. Can the connection between a lawman trying to keep his town safe and a new kind of gold rush in San Francisco hold the only hope for a better future?

The game combines the intense action of a “AAA” console shooter, with the persistence, scale, and customization of an MMO, while its TV counterpart weaves the rich tapestry of the world into a series with the scope, characters, and drama of a classic sci-fi epic. Because they exist in a single universe, the show and the game will influence each other and evolve together over time, with actions in both mediums driving the overall story of  Defiance.

Trion Worlds has announced the winner of the first-ever transmedia contest for Defiance. The ‘Most Wanted’ in-game contest pitted players against both the game’s environment and each other to see who would rise to the top and become the ultimate Ark Hunter. The Ark Hunter earning the most ark salvage (the in game currency system) per hourduring their time played over the course of the contest, which spanned from April 30 to May 12, was chosen to be the winner. During this span, Zachary Prast showcased his undeniable Ark Hunter skills by earning almost 3 times the average ark salvage per hour!

Zachary will leave the in-game world and be seen in an upcoming episode of Defiance on Syfy. Zachary demonstrated truly exceptional skills as an Ark Hunter in the game, beating out thousands of other players for a chance to have the show’s character artists render his likeness into a special place in the Season 1 finale, making him the first-ever gamer to crossover into the television property.
