Watch Dogs is an open-world action-adventure in which players enter the dangerous world of Aiden Pearce, a new class of antihero whose ability to hack into any connected system could be his most powerful weapon.Earlier today a variety of outlets reported that Ubisoft had withdrawn the trademark for Watch Dogs, making room for all sorts of speculation.
UPDATE: Apparently the source of it all was due to a suspicious "trademark abandonment" requested by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, a request that was apparently forged and not legit.
Ubisoft confirmed the SNAFU and without giving any specifics as to why it happened, issued the following statement:
We are working directly with the USPTO on reinstating the trademark for Watch Dogs and it will be active again in the coming days. The matter has no impact on the Watch Dogs' development.
