'Yoshi's New Island' (3DS) Gets Green Yoshi Edition 3DS XL System Bundle

by Rainier on March 3, 2014 @ 4:00 a.m. PST

In this new chapter in the series, Baby Luigi has been whisked away once again, leaving it up to the Yoshi clan to keep Baby Mario out of harm’s way and embark on a mission of discovery.

In the side-scrolling platforming adventure, players take control of Yoshi as he carries Baby Mario and helps him reunite with his kidnapped brother. Along the way, Yoshi will throw eggs that he lays, including the massive Mega Eggdozers, and experience a variety of inventive transformations with unique controls.

Yoshi’s good old Flutter Jump, Ground Pound and egg-throwing return, along with new abilities and challenges that take advantage of the features of the 3DS. You can use massive eggs called Mega-Eggs to destroy blocks and pipes, revealing secrets such as coins and hidden keys. The more things you destroy, the higher the Mega-Egg gauge goes, netting you extra lives in the process!

Yoshi’s New Island also features helpful items like the Flutter Wings, which let Yoshi fly through the air. This item is great for players who have trouble completing a level, and ensures that people of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the game.

Launching on the same day as Yoshi’s latest video game adventure, Yoshi’s New Island, is a green Yoshi Edition 3DS XL system that features an image of Yoshi on the front, as well as a series of cute Yoshi eggs on the back.

The system will launch on March 14 at a suggested retail price of $199.99.

Key Features:

  • Yoshi’s New Island: keeps the series’ fun game-play mechanics, such as Yoshi’s Flutter Jump, Ground Pound and Egg Throw, while also offering new abilities. For example, use the giant-sized Mega Eggs to destroy objects, obtain coins and reveal hidden doors.
  • Using the 3DS system’s gyro sensor functionality and the new binocular ability, players can move the system around to uncover hidden areas as well as better aim Mega Egg throws.
  • Throughout the game, different worlds feature a variety of art styles, including oil, watercolor and crayon.

Yoshi’s New Island will be available for $39.99.
