'Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition' (ALL) Switches To Steamworks, DLCs Do Not Transfer

by Rainier on May 27, 2014 @ 3:19 p.m. PDT

Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition further redefines the fighting game genre with classic 2-D Street Fighter fighting action, a host of new and returning characters, beefed up online modes, and more.

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition brings the total roster to 39, adding four new characters into the battle with Evil Ryu, well-known twins Yun and Yang from Street Fighter III, and an all new character, Oni. Each with their own unique move sets and super combos, these new characters are beautifully rendered in the trademark Super Street Fighter art style. All the returning characters in the roster have also been rebalanced, from subtle changes such as recovery speeds to more drastic hit box alterations.

The updated Replay Channel allows players to share their favourite battles with other players and makes it easier to watch matches for the best “Street Fighters” available. The Replay Follower allows tracking for 5 favourite players with notifications when new replays are available from this set. Proud players can distribute their data to up to 50 friends via the My Channel Advanced feature. Matches by featuring the best-of-the-best can be viewed on the Elite Channel where players can watch replays of the top players by filtering out matches with lower scores.

As Ultra Street Fighter IV is coming out soon for Steam, we are looking to transition our current GFWL users over to Steamworks in order to provide the optimal level of support across the board for PC Street Fighter fans. We’ve been working behind the scenes to ensure that this change will be as seamless as possible, but for users who still wish to continue using GFWL, the game will still function as normal for the foreseeable future.

The transition from GFWL to Steamworks will take place on May 30, 2014. In order to make this change go as smoothly as possible, follow the directions below according to the case you fall under.

1. You bought Super Street Fighter IV AE for Steam.

  • On May 30, 2014, the transition from GFWL to Steamworks will happen, and your GFWL enabled game will still function as normal for the foreseeable future.
  • You will automatically be able to download the Steamworks version of the game via the Steam client for free. Once you boot up the new version of the game, it will prompt you to copy over your GFWL save data. Select “YES” and you’ll be ready to go!

2. You bought Super Street Fighter IV AE for Games For Windows Live (retail package version).

  • On May 30, 2014, the transition from GFWL to Steamworks will happen, and your GFWL enabled game will still function as normal for the foreseeable future.
  • You will be able to receive the Steam/Steamworks version of the game simply by inputting your original GFWL product activation code into the “Activate a Product on Steam…” option in the Steam client.
    1. Customers can find their GFWL activation codes on the back of the instruction manual that came with the retail package.
  • Code Redeem Process:
    1. Launch the Steam client software and log into your Steam account.
    2. Click the Games Menu.
    3. Choose Activate a Product on Steam...
    4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process. Once you’ve successfully redeemed your code, you will be able to download the Steamworks version of the game.
  • Once you boot up the new version of the game, it will prompt you to copy over your GFWL save data. If you select “YES” the game will copy over the latest save file. Make sure that’s the one you want before going through the process!

Unfortunately, both paid and free DLC will not be transferred over in this process.
