'Halo 5: Guardians' (XOne) Multiplayer Beta Gets Updated - Screens

by Rainier on Jan. 2, 2015 @ 6:04 p.m. PST

Halo 5: Guardians is the next installment in the saga of the Master Chief, with more content, and larger in scope than its predecessor, built from the ground up with a brand new and more powerful engine.

Halo 5: Guardians continues the story of the Master Chief, and introduces a brand new central character to the Halo universe – Spartan Locke.  Peace is shattered when colony worlds are unexpectedly attacked.  And when humanity’s greatest hero goes missing, Spartan Locke is tasked with hunting the Master Chief and solving a mystery that threatens the entire galaxy.

Focusing on the arena multiplayer legacy that the franchise is known for, the Beta features a multitude of maps, several game types, as well as weapons and armor sets to customize your Spartan, all running on dedicated servers for the best multiplayer experience.

This week in the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta, battle it out in Breakout, a brand-new game type! Breakout is round-based, and your Spartan only has one life each round. The first team to take five rounds wins the match. You’ll be able to play on two maps: Crossfire, and its variant, Trench.

There will also be two new maps swapped into the Slayer playlist: Regret and Eden. Regret is a remix of Truth, and Eden is a remix of Empire, both of which were included in week 1. Additionally, you voted, and we answered: You’ll be able to wield the Hydra MLRS, a brand-new weapon to the Halo universe, while slaying on Regret.
