'Forced: Eternal Arenas' Launches Kickstarter Campaign - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on Oct. 6, 2015 @ 7:33 p.m. PDT

Forced: Eternal Arenas is a rogue-like deck building action game where you choose your champion, enter the ever-changing death course, fend off hordes of minions and the looming threat of the Boss, to claim awesome rewards!

Forced: Eternal Arenas, previously known as  Forced 2: The Rush, combines your hardcore action skills with your ability to build decks that suits your playstyle, your champion and the challenge that you face. You battle through arenas to eventually take down bosses.

But beware... You are not the only one with a deck of cards at hand!

Betadwarf has launched a kickstarter campaign, looking for $75,000, to finish up development of Forced: Eternal Arenas.

In a galaxy far away, the focus lies on ONE THING - spectacular gladiator battles! Every society is either training the greatest gladiators or constructing the deadliest arenas. YOU will control these gladiators in an effort to become the most famous and awesome one of all!

While controlling a gladiator, you will face a wide range of bosses in battles across vastly different worlds. Build a deck of cards and use them to upgrade your stats and abilities, as you slaughter your way through the enemies you encounter. The bosses use their own cards and unique abilities as you progress through the arenas, culminating in great showdowns.

As a gladiator you will take part in unique tournaments, each with its own nasty set of rules and various battles. No tournament will ever be the same as the last. Death has consequences, but any rewards you unlock are permanent. Once committed to a tournament, there is only one way out; victory or death.

You are not alone! As you become a renowned gladiator you will be rewarded with various companions including a vigilant mini-dragon and a not-so-intelligent T-Rex. Companions take care of themselves as they aid you in battle. Some are more demanding than others, such as Denver the T-Rex who may unintentionally harm you if you don’t stay out of his way.

Every day you will be able to compete against other players in randomly generated tournaments with new and exciting rules and challenges. These dailies, combined with season rankings, give you the opportunity to earn the ultimate bragging rights!

The deck building in Eternal Arenas means that you have an unbelievable amount of different builds for each character. Cards can be used for a wide range of things, including boosting your abilities, summoning allied minions and changing the arena rules. Want to build a reliable tank or a reckless glass cannon? Make your whirlwind attack shoot fireballs in all directions or summon an army of drooling minions? Combine cards to make your ranged attack split in multiple lines, give it infinite range, loop it around the world for another pass and make enemies explode for AoE on impact!

Battles contain 8 arenas which culminate in a boss fight in the final arena. Before each arena your mana refreshes (1 mana in the first arena, 2 mana in the second and so on.) You pick the 30 cards you bring to a battle and you must choose wisely, as battles may have special modifiers that change the rules. However, you may be able to turn them to your advantage!

At the heart of the Roguelike genre lies consequential death and randomly generated encounters - we’ve got that covered! You will participate in many different tournaments testing both your strength and wit. If you die, you won’t complete your current tournament and you will have to try again or pick another tournament. However, should you unlock any rewards they will be yours permanently.

Questing is how you reap rewards. As you complete quests you will level up and unlock new quests with great rewards. If you are stuck in a tournament you can try another one and perhaps collect helpful rewards to get you further. So yes, death has consequences, but it's not “I’ll crush my screen with my keyboard,” punishing.

Key Features:

  • Tight action controls, like a top-down arcade game, but in 3D - Yeah!
  • It's a Rogue-like! If you die, you're out, and every match is randomly generated!
  • Rogue-like Campaign you say!? Hell Yeah! Generate a unique campaign every time.
  • Build a deck of swords, guns and fireballs for your Champion, whenever you've completed a challenge you get to pick a card, and cards are nice!
