'#killallzombies' (PS4) Content Update Adds New Modes, Perks - Trailer

by Rainier on Feb. 20, 2015 @ 11:16 a.m. PST

In the distant future, #killallzombies is thrusting civilians into a sport of survival were a ravenous zombie population is unleashed in the name of sports entertainment.

With the potential of a collective horde of over 1.000 zombies, television spectators vote upon how many and what kind of zombies or obstacles they want to un-cage to make survival all the more harder for you to accomplish.

The arena comprises of hundreds of hexagon shaped tiles that are capable of totally changing the dynamics of the gameplay by altering the landscape by spawning new obstacles, such as various cars and knives and others; hexagons temporarily caving in on themselves to create dangerous traps for civilians to cautiously navigate; hexagons temporarily raising from the ground to create a blockade that may keep some zombies out, but when they find their way around or if they are all already in front of the barrier, then you are in for a tough time fighting your way out of that horde; alongside many more ever changing hexagonal gameplay dynamics.

The update includes two long-awaited modes in the form of local co-op and Defend the Vault as well as brand new perks, chat commands & exclusive support for the major PS4 innovation Share Play.

The local co-op game mode is based upon the premise of the survival mode, but is adapted for two player co-operative multiplayer use with each player allowed to choose their own weapon. There are dedicated co-op perks as both players level up simultaneously with the perk going to the player that requests it first with the ability to revive your co-op partner, alongside Share Play support in co-operative multiplayer.

The Defend the Vault game mode is reminiscent of the tower defence genre as your objective is to protect the vault which contains a flag from incoming hordes of zombies. The zombies only have their eyes on the vault this time instead of eating your brains. However, despite you not being targeted by zombies, you will gain money for every zombie you kill which can then be invested by upgrading your defences by purchasing turrets – you can also exchange weapons for turrets in order to strengthen your defences in the appropriate areas.

Will you and your ally have the survival instincts to endure the arena in co-operative multiplayer mode?

Key Features:

  • Hordes of zombies to fight!
  • Live stream interactions enabling spectators to affect gameplay while watching the broadcast via Live from PlayStation or Twitch.
  • Interactively changing arena. The arena comprises of hundreds of hexagon shaped tiles that are capable of totally changing the dynamics of the gameplay by altering the landscape by spawning new obstacles, such as various cars and knives and others.
  • Multiple weapons (7 weapons at launch) and ammo types (normal/armor-piercing/freezing/toxic)
  • Powerful perks and leveling system. Killing significant quantities of zombies will earn XP, which will eventually enable the player to level up, which is a very important process as it provides the player with a choice of perks that will be incredibly helpful in surviving the hordes of zombies.

There is plenty of weaponry and at launch will be available Beretta, Revolver, Sawed-off shotgun, M-16, M-60 and a futuristic X-Bow and Plasma Gun, while there are various bullet types including: normal bullets, armor-piercing rounds that are capable of shooting directly through zombies and freezing bullets, although we set about adding even more weaponry and bullet types in the future development of the game too.

The control scheme consists of your typical twin-stick shooter with the left analogue stick moving the character and the right analogue stick shooting in the appropriate direction. The player will fight through various categories of zombies, such as slow, fast, jumping, gigantic and enraged bosses.

Killing significant quantities of zombies will earn XP, which will eventually enable the player to level up, which is a very important process as it provides the player with a choice of perks that will be incredibly helpful in surviving the hordes of zombies. The perks have a tremendous power to each of them that can shift the balance of power from the hordes of zombies surrounding you to the player as the perks range from invisibility resulting in the zombies not being able to see the location of the character they are pursuing and insta-death, which sensationally leaves absolutely every zombie in a crumpled heap dead on the ground and not getting back up from it this time, amongst various other perks.

#killallzombies, rated T for Teen, will receive post-launch support with further content and game modes patched into the game for free, therefore when the game launches on the US PSN Store for $13.99 USD.
