'Evolve' (ALL) Observer Mode Coming Soon - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on March 4, 2015 @ 6:23 a.m. PST

Evolve is a multiplayer shooter that blends cooperative and competitive multiplayer experiences as a team of four hunters face off against a single, player-controlled monster.

Set on an alien planet in the distant future, gamers hunt their prey in adrenaline-pumping 4v1 matches. Players experience Evolve as a first-person shooter when playing cooperatively as the four hunters, while they control the monster in the third-person perspective, providing a gameplay experience unique to Evolve.

Play as the Monster to use savage abilities and an animalistic sense to kill your human enemies, or choose one of four Hunter classes (Trapper, Support, Assault and Medic) and team up to take down the beast on the planet Shear, where flora and fauna act as an adversary to Hunter and Monster alike. Evolve includes three Monsters, 12 Hunters, 16 maps, and four game modes: Hunt, Nest, Rescue, and Defend.

Observer Mode is a community feature designed to give Evolve players the tools to observe and add commentary to Evolve, and livestream the action of all five players in a match without the necessity of expensive equipment. More specifically, Observer Mode allows a sixth user to passively enter a custom game in Evolve, providing them with the ability to seamlessly switch to view any of the five players in the match, and includes an informative HUD that updates in real time throughout the match, showcasing player health, survival odds, perks, the mini-map, and more.

Here’s a quick run-through of how Observer Mode works:

Be a Shoutcaster: You can now have Custom matches with 1 to 5 players, then add an Observer to your game, using the Hunter/Monster selection screen. Not only can you watch the game as the sixth player, but you can also use Observer mode to livestream these matches with added commentary. Think you got what it takes to be the next DB? Now you’ll have the tools to give him a run for his money.

Jump between character cameras: One of the coolest things about watching a match live is being able to see the Hunters coordinate and then jump to where the Monster is lurking. With Observer Mode, you’ll be able to seamlessly switch views between Hunters and Monster. Once a character camera is selected you’ll be able to rotate the camera around the character to see what is happening behind or beside them. Just highlight the Hunter (or Monster) you want to see and you’re there.

MinMax the HUD: We have created a custom HUD that gives you vital information about everyone playing without the on-screen clutter. Want to see stuff like the current perks being used and expected survival odds? Done. Want to overlay the minimap? No problem. Just want to enjoy a cinematic angle? Toggle the whole thing off, kick back and enjoy the view. On top of all this, you can even outline characters, making it easier to see them across the map.

DaisyCam: Yes, a DaisyCam. You’re welcome. Provided a player has selected Maggie, you can follow everyone’s favorite trapjaw, Daisy.

Evolve: Hunters Quest is a Match-3 puzzle combat game that takes players on more than 100 missions set in the Evolve universe. Players join a team of Hunters on the planet Shear in search of new and unique wildlife and Monsters. Throughout the missions, players must match three tokens of the same color to unleash devastating attacks on their enemies, fill up energy bars to activate Hunters’ special abilities, and earn Mastery Points to level up their characters.

For fans who purchase Evolve on PC or console, Evolve: Hunters Quest also links directly into the main game for an expanded experience that can be enjoyed on-the-go. Players can apply their Mastery Points earned in Evolve: Hunters Quest to characters in the Evolve game on any platform. Players can also discover and unlock unique game art, and enhance their console skills by watching replays of their online multiplayer matches from a strategic top-down view.
