'TERA: Fate of Arun' Introduces New Gunner Class, Steam Date - Screens & Trailer

by Rainier on April 21, 2015 @ 10:15 a.m. PDT

TERA is an MMORPG where you battle epic wars, protect your kingdom from demise. Tera: Fate of Arun increases the level cap and opens up the continent of Northern Arun, which is divided into four hunting zones.

Tera’s uniqueness revolves around its groundbreaking True Action Combat. This system allows the players to truly master their characters and to aim with no automatic targeting system, thus pushing the boundaries of the MMO genre. Players and press both warmly received TERA, praising its state of the art visuals and notable innovations such as its political system.

The increase in the maximum level will introduce 15 new skills to the game, with each class able to learn up to three additional abilities. Furthermore, certain present mechanics and abilities will be partially overhauled or receive additional effects. Lancers using the “Adrenaline Rush II” skill, for instance, will in future benefit not only from increased attack speed, but also from halved cooldown times on their melee moves as well as additional aggro from targeted opponents.

The four new hunting zones – Mjusu Kraal, Spring Valley, Ex Prima and Arx Umbra – are all to be found on a previously undiscovered continent. They offer missions and challenges leading to the new maximum level and which continue the story of Arborea.

Gunners are a fast-moving, high-DPS, ranged class who never stop to ask questions because they’re too busy shooting first!

The exclusively female heroes bring more variety to the world of Arborea with their mighty cannons. Using 3rd-person shooter elements such as active aiming down the barrel of the gun, the Gunner expands the much lauded true action battle system. The class will launch at the start of May together with the next big update and will be freely available to all TERA: Fate of Arun players.

“We can’t wait for players to get their hands on the new gunner class,” said En Masse Entertainment Producer Patrick “Treeshark” Sun. “With her powerful AoE attacks, big-ass arccannons, and summoned constructs, the gunner brings a lot of new elements to the table gameplay-wise, while still requiring the attention to positioning, the timing, and the skill that define TERA’s True Action Combat.”

Scheduled to release on May 5, 2015, the update will coincide with TERA’s debut on Steam, TERA: Rising has been playable free of charge since February 2013.
