'Call to Arms' Shows Off New Features - Screens

by Rainier on May 15, 2015 @ 12:51 p.m. PDT

Call to Arms offers an innovative new look into modern era combat. Initially featuring two playable factions, 20 realistically modeled vehicles and heavy weaponry, as well as over 60 firearms and customization, Call to Arms brings the very best in tactical gameplay.

The base game offers two factions: the United States Army and the Global Revolutionary Movement. Fight in the rural areas, factories, railway stations or in towns and use the environment to your advantage. Cover is everywhere, and almost everything can be destroyed. An unseen amount of challenges are awaiting you in exciting online combat supported by Steamworks!

The game allows you to command your units in the classic real-time strategy mode or to fight directly by taking control over an individual unit in the 3rd person action mode. Whether advancing with a Humvee, infiltrating with a Scout Sniper or crashing through buildings with a M1A2 Abrams, everything can be controlled by you!

Dynamic Shellholes

The game features dynamic shellholes that depend on the strength of the explosion and the ground below. To create an outstanding volumetric effect we added displacement maps to smaller shellholes. This parallax effect delivers an amazing result and immersion. In case of bigger explosions, the terrain will be deformed and new three-dimensional cover will be created.

Instanced grass

We have been reworking the previous grass rendering system completely. The new instanced grass supports high resolution textures, as well as normal maps and speculars. New types of grass can be easily created and thanks to new random placement modifiers, it will look a lot more natural than before. Of course, modders can easily take advantage of this system and add new grass types of their liking. We are certainly excited to discover the creativeness of our community!
